Do we have one of these? Not seen one!

Well, England have called up Andy Goode from Brive for Saturday's opener against the Italians, and Cipriani is in the Saxons, how the mighty have fallen.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/englis...

Wales name their starting line up tomorrow, with the midfield positions possibly up for grabs.

I don't know about anyone else, but I can't wait for kick off this weekend!

Nope, think this is the first 6N thread, good work sir.

Yeah Andy Goode hey, anyone see that coming? Thought he'd just been added to the squad for some experience in training, but what do I know.

Shane Geraghty might be a bit put out by it, although he's not quite a frontline goal kicker at the moment.

Still don't like Borthwick playing and Captain, he and Kennedy are too alike, and Kennedy is the better lineout forward. Kennedy and Casey work so well at London Irish because they are a great partnership, the athleticism of Kennedy and the Physiclity of casey work so well.

I think it's a good decision from Johnson. I've always felt a little sorry for Goode, he has always done the basics well and basics win games! He should give a steady hand to the fragile English team.

As for Ireland I'm a little worried about that Irish back line, they could cause some real problems for us. Plenty of pace and ambition.

As for us I don't think there will be any suprises in the team announcement. I also can't see us having problems dispatching Scotland despite them talking their chances up this season. They are a little flat without a creative spark in their starting 15. We've got them better'd in every position.

Not sure I really rate Goode on the international stage, buit hopefully the break has allowed him to relax a bit more.

Yeah he seems to blow hot and cold - stunning one week and absolutely atrocious the next.

I'm interested to see who lines up in our midfield, we've got Shanks, Henson, Bishop and Roberts competing for two places. Also be interesting to see if Halfpenny has done enough to keep Mark Jones out, who is returning after an op.

Do you reckon Henson will get a run out? I wasn't sure how 'in' the squad he was this year

Well I hope so. He's been covering at FB for the Ospreys lately but I always think our back line looks better with him at 12.

I think we may be looking at Henson/Bishop at 12/13, with Halfpenny keeping Mark Jones out until next week.

Will probably be this:

Byrne, Halfpenny, Roberts, Henson, S. Williams, S Jones, Phillips; Jenkins, Rees, Adam Jones, Gough, Alun-Wyn Jones, R. Jones, M. Williams, Powell

which I'd be happy with. Mark Jones would normally be first choice on the wing in place of 1/2p, but is unlikely to be fit for Sunday, although should be back for the England game. Similarly, Jonathan Thomas would be a starter at 6, probably in place of Powell, but again is struggling with an injury.

As for England, I might as well just copy and paste my comment from the fantasy thread:

Looks like it could be a return to a very limited game plan based on forward power and a tactical kicking game - Martin Johnson sticking with what he know's best, maybe? This type of game has always been England's strength and, of course, has been very effective for them in the past. The main question mark, I guess, is whether they have the forwards and the control at fly half to carry it off any longer?

I think the team will be announced at 1pm

I'm going for a back line of:

9 - Phillips
10 - Jones
11 - Shane
12 - Henson
13 - Roberts
14 - Halfpenny
15 - Byrne

Who's going to have a crack at the forwards then?

Scotland team announced:

15 Hugo Southwell (Edinburgh)

14 Simon Webster (Edinburgh)

13 Ben Cairns (Edinburgh)

12 Graeme Morrison (Glasgow Warriors)

11 Sean Lamont (Northampton Saints)

10 Phil Godman (Edinburgh)

9 Mike Blair (Edinburgh) CAPTAIN

1 Allan Jacobsen (Edinburgh)

2 Ross Ford (Edinburgh)

3 Geoff Cross (Edinburgh)*

4 Jason White (Sale Sharks)

5 Jim Hamilton (Edinburgh)

6 Allister Hogg (Edinburgh)

8 Simon Taylor (Stade Francais)

7 John Barclay (Glasgow Warriors)

It's very good news from a Welsh perspective that Nathan Hines and Euan Murray are both out injured.

Why? Hines would get a red and make is 15 on 14 wink

The Scottish team doesn't worry me really, their backline doesn't have a cutting edge and from what I've seen of Godman his final execution in tight situations is poor. He's young so will eventaully learn his trade but won't be ready come Sunday.

Scotland 12
Wales 28

Shaun Edwards said:
"I can only talk about what I have seen in the past eight days, and that has been absolutely exceptional," he said on Tuesday.

"We did a lot of hard work last week with some pretty brutal training sessions. Some of them were as tough, if not tougher, than a game.

"You need a constant hunger to improve and be constantly challenging yourself and those around you.

"You need to be in an environment that, at times, can be a little uncomfortable - where you don't settle for second-best.

"We have those sort of characters in the Wales squad. But it's also that we have a pretty healthy squad.

"If you had told me that, after the autumn internationals, this would be the squad we had for Scotland, we would have been very happy.

"There is a lot of competition for the nines, 10s, the midfield and all over the pitch really. No one can be too comfortable because, if they get too comfortable, someone else will be in their spot."
Fair do's. Looks like the squad is fully prepared and won't be underestimating the Scots.

I therefore predict a comfortable win for us, if we play our game.

Score predictions for the weekend?

England by 5
Ireland by 5
Wales by 15

Cannot wait until this weekend - been on the wagon all year and will fall of in a big way this Sat...

But that aside cannot wait for the games - this weekends draws are so difficult to pick a winner & I seriously mean that even for Eng v Italy...

Wales need to be careful up in scotland could easily slip up - we need a very very strong start smash them off the ground. I hope defence and line out has been really focused on.

Last year we let in 2 tries one against England & 1 against Italy (Italy one a silly error). I wonder what the record for lowest tired against the winning side in the 6 nations championship is??

France v Ireland.. Have not got a clue who will win.

Dont know if any of you have heard about this - or it is a wind up (but doubtful) then Welsh Rugby is set for another collapse.

Any info on this please post up.
