Not a City fan but talking to the boss today about various transfers and we both got onto the Shay Given transfer and found ourselves asking "What the hell has Joe Hart done wrong?".

Calamity won't be able to play for England forever, we have few good English keepers as it is and one that I'd have thought is a future stick-on for the jersey is now reduced to Mark Hugh's second choice.

Is there any logic at all to the transfer?

I always thought that Given would go to Arsenal!

Shame for Joe Hart, as you've said, he hasn't really done anything wrong.

One of the better prospects we have aswell. Maybe he'll be going out in the next window?

I'm sure there will be a few clubs interested in him.

Not sure he has done anything wrong, but perhaps he can learn from the new man. He's a good keeper, but who's the back-up at the minute... Might make Joe work really hard and cement his place

Hart has not done anything wrong, he is a good keeper, but lacks experience, which Given has in abundance....

Hart's time will come,... in four or five years time he will still be in his mid twenties....Shame for him I agree.

Still, having Hart in reserve will Keep Given on his toes which can only be good for City....

City have for years had a tradition for great keepers, Frank Swift, Bert Trautmann, Harry Dowd, Ken Mulhearn, Joe Corrigan,.... Given is just another in a long line........

It does seem a bit unfair on Joe Hart.
Whilst some of his England rivals (James, Robbo, Carson) have been racking up the mistakes, Hart seems to have done OK behind a leaky Citeh defence (what's happened to Micah Richards BTW?).
Now it looks like he'll be demoted to the bench. I can't see that sitting around watching Shay Given is going to improve him - he needs to be playing.
If you're reading this Joe - I can put in a good word at Bramall Lane if you're interested!

Funnily enough we had the same conversation at work.

On the plus side we'll get to see what Harper is like now in a regular starting place. Maybe he'll give Calamity the nudge from the England jersey for a friendly smile

So what's the England pecking order?
1. Ben Foster
2. Joe Hart
3. Chris Kirkland
..
97. David James
98. Scott Carson
99. Rob Green

Ben foster is my choice, but his kicking is all over the place.. but he needs to go back out on loan!

Ive always liked Hart he is a good young keeper, Will Given go straight into the team?

Last sat at the brit, when the teams come out for the 2nd half Joe Hart was running up to his goal with "one Shay Given, Theres only one Shay Given" being sang by the stokies, He had a little chuckle and took it with a smile, good lad.
