Last season's tournament was dire beyond all imagining

Standards have been slipping for a while now: not since England won the Grand Slam in 2003 with a mighty performance in Dublin has a major European rugby nation produced anything accomplished enough to make the southern hemisphere sit up and take notice

Hmmmm.... So it seems the 6N has been rubbish since England stopped winning it. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a news article in all my life. Chris Hewitt is moronic at the best of times, but this really takes the biscuit. It reads like a parody of the worst of English rugby journalism down the years, but presumably he intended it as a serious piece. Still, on the plus side, the comments section is absolutely priceless. smile

Sir, It's not often I'm moved to writing about anything other than the ruination of our beloved isle by political correctness, but your article was one of the finest critiques of rugger I've read in an age. For too long I've seemed like a lone voice arguing that the only reason those damnable Celts have tasted cheap glory is that our boys are clearly saving themselves for World Cups. Yes, they may have come to Twickers last year and won on the scoreboard, but as we're all aware the moral victory was ours. As was said, barring 7 minutes of madness we would have run out as comfortable winners and probably rolled on to a Grand Slam ourselves, but those are minor concerns for a side who've been winners of the last two World Cups (The decision to rule out Cueto's try was clearly a political decision therefore dismissable).

So let the lessers scrap it out in tinpot tournaments like the Six Nations, you, I, and all those who understand the game know that our position is untarnished as the premier side in world rugby.

I just think it keeps getting better and better! Wales were fantastic to watch last year, and if you don't think so then I can only guess you don't enjoy high class skillful rugby!
They came up to Murrayfield 4 years ago and simply blew us away in the first half. Whilst somewhat depressed to watch the points racking up, we simply couldn't get near them. The offloading was rugby at it's absolute best, and they were at that level again last year.
Breathtaking stuff.

Looking forward to the tournament again this year, although if Wales play like that again our hopes might be over before they've even started.

I think the italians take some unfair stick too, there have been some fantastically tense matches at the stadio flaminio. Their fans and some much needed passion and flair to the tournament too.

I've also fallen in love with the addition of the french bugle at kick-offs.
Ole!

That's one of the worst articles I've ever read, and I'm English! I seem to remember in the season before last, weren't there 3 teams going into the last weekend that could have won the title, that really was boring wasn't it. Not sure who's going to win it this year but it certainly won't be England.
