I have pretty big arms for my overall body size but I'm bloody rubbish at arm wrestles - what muscles need to be worked on the improve this? smile .. or is simply less about bicep size and all down to technique..

I'd guess from the mechanics of the action that you would use your forearm and shoulder as well?

In the local paper was a article on neil pickup who is a former world champ.

It said when he had elbow surgery his tendons where 5 times the size of a normal person.

Long forearm = disadvantage

Gives opponent a nice easy lever.

Same for powerlifting....short levers work best.
Wee guys (in height) have less distance to shift the weight, and the muscle doesn't have the weight working against it at the end of a long lever.

Forearms often get ignored in the average workout, but a quick google should find you some good exercises. The best I've found is the dowel and rope one found on here:
