He's a defender, just signed wth Sheffield Wed - a fringe player.
Is it a case of how longs a piece of string?

the average wage of a Championship player is said to be around £5k per week.

Obviously there are some big names 'slumming it' on much, much more than that, and some relegated clubs will still have players on top-flight wages.

for a fringe player, it will depend on age and experience - I'd guess (but it's just a guess) somewhere around £1k a week...

it varies enormously, i think the average is around £10K given the number of ex premiership clubs/players now in the championship and the number of "smaller" teams promoted from league one in recent times. the average will be influenced far more by the big clubs like Reading, Birmingham and Derby who were paying big bucks last year....

It's Lewis Buxton.
then i think given his age and his apparent lack of impact at his previous clubs, i would guess £2K is not far off the mark.

If you can wait a few months I'll start banging some Tottenham names in.

Do you want to do me a cheque or BACS?

Do they still quote footballers wages tax-free (clubs used to pay the tax for them)?

Did they?? Some would benefit more so than others depending on their tax code.

More to the point - do players still get 5% of the fee (they did in the old days) if they get transferred but didn't request the move.

If they got 5% AFTER requesting a move, Baby Face Bellamy would be even richer. And Steve Claridge's gambling problem wouldn't have been a problem.

should spurs go down, those on big wages will simply leave. they wont want to take a pay cut and they wont want to play in the championship. whilst you could argue that the club could afford the wages, they wont be getting any tv money, they will lose revenue from away games, hospitality, all the other income streams etc and they also have a very unpredictable chairman.

spurs wont go down though, it will be stoke, west brom and boro, all of who have very few if any players on £50K per week at the moment anyway.
