Have a look at these running shoes.

Has anyone tried these UK Gear PT-03 Cold Environment Running Shoes? They look pretty good, having been tested by the Army and all. Getting fed up with running muddy trails in my Sauconys which get wet through.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has them, if they're any good, and if they'd suit my running style which is pretty neutral to very slight inward pronation.

they look quite chunky, for an off road shoe i am not sure if i would want so much support as the principle of running on uneven surfaces is to let your feet/body adjust to the surface rather than rely on the ankle support.
agree that inov8 are worth a look. http://www.inov-8.com/Products-Detail.asp?PG=PG1&a...

Inov-8, superb for trail, mud, hills - you'll get wet feet but they dry/warm up really quickly, go to a mountain marathon event & 90% are wearing them. They are the Lotus of hill shoes. (They have a goretex lined model also - can't remember which one at the mo though).
Brit company too.

I've got a pair of Asics Eagle Gore-Tex. They've got a lot of the same attributes as the Kayanos I run in on the road, but they're waterproof and have a much deeper tread. They're also slightly more rigid. They've been brilliant, and I've had them 2 years now.
In fact, I'm doing a race in them tomorrow, and it's been raining a lot in the last couple of days, so I'm hoping they hold up to my own recommendation!

Thanks chaps, those look better, I wonder if they're fairly waterproof? That's the thing that does my head in, wet bloody socks. If i'm on a long cross country run it means 2 or 3 hours with wet feet and it's horrible. Get blisters too.
have a look at "xsocks" or "sealskinz" rahter than waterproof shoes, try waterproof socks. the idea here is that you can get really lightweight trail running shoes and use them in the wet or dry. trail shoes with waterproof linings tend to be less flexible and have an air of "ramblers" to them. they always seem too bulky too comfortably run in though naturally i havent tried them all!!! also waterproof socks dont get as sweaty as you might think.
the other issue is, as i am sure you know, most xc routes have big puddles and water that you just cant avoid and the water just comes over the top of the shoes or splashes on your legs and runs down into your socks thus a waterproof lining is useless.
Twin skin socks are realy comfy, im running in inov8 at the mo, not the most comfy but your feet stay dry to a degree, but if you run up to you ankles in mud and water its inevitable
the feet are going to get wet, i think the gortex shoes are good for keeping you dry but a bit pricey. the lad who takes us off road for our long runs 2/3 hours works us hard and dont realy notice when the feet are wet, too busy taking the piss out of each other
