I hope GSP wins, then we may get GSP vs Silva at middleweight.
actually I hope not, this is hogging the lightweight title and welterweight titles for far too long, if BJ wins there'll hardly be any defences at all. Silva is almost done with his ufc deal anyway, only a couple of fights left I think. GSP has a long way to go before he's cleared out his division too. Yep, im going to be cheering gsp on, was watching the hype show(thanks for pointing that out by the way) and instead of training, he took off to kona for a vacation. Nowt wrong with that of course, but 4 weeks out from getting in the ring with gsp?? I dont think he is taking this too seriously, gsp on the other hand, training like a bd!!!

BJ is notorious for being bit flabby and "gassing" during his fights, curiously BJ has refused to participate in anymore UFC primetime show after the way he was portrayed in the first show. BJ is amazingly gifted at BJJ but I just think hes a distasteful person (wiping blood off a beaten opponents face and licking it) and not dedicated enough to do his talent justice.Ive been a big GSP fan for ages but when he used a perfect Judo throw in his fight against matt hughes I was very impressed and hope he cleans out the division (Im a judo guy).

I really struggle to understand the purpose of this fight.
The only reasons to have this fight is 1 a grudge match, and 2 because BJ asked for it at the end of his last fight. UFC think it will be a great fight.
However.
It is a title fight. To be a title contender they need a run (used to be 3-4, lately 1) of wins in that class. BJ has not had this. BJ's belt is not on the line as GSP cannot get down to BJ weight class. so only GSP's belt is on the line.
I do not have a problem with a fighter fighting in two weight classes however in my mind he has not yet defended his title. Yes he technically defended against Sean Sherk, however Sherk did not lose the belt he had it striped from him just before BJ faught Joe Stevenson (who was not ready for a fight of that calibre) so really it was a unification title fight. Also to fight for another title he needs to clear out the division to ensure there is no challengers for the belt (Like Anderson Silva has/is doing in 185). He has not faught Ken Flo yet, plus there are lots of others in the division who can put a run together to challenge for the belt
Also there are other fighters in the Welterweight division who want to fight GSP for the belt so why does BJ get a leg up.
BJ only wants to fight once a year at max so if he wins he will only defend the belt every 6 months and it will involve him yo-yo'iong his weight. It shows that GSP can be beaten by a smaller fighter.
If GSP wins, he has beaten a smaller fighter who is not fighting in that weight class so he just wins just another fighter who he should beat. He does not get another belt.
This fight completly devalues BJ's belt as it says there is nobody in the weight class who he can be bothered to fight.
[/soap box]
Still looking forward to the fight but just do not see the point of the fight.
Don't forget Fedor & Arloski tonight and is shown on Bravo at 9pm.

I agree, BJ should pick a weight and stick with it, he knows fine well he only has a shot at the WW title as a one off, his record at WW sucks despite being a former champion. If BJ wins he needs to drop one of the titles or we're going to get sod all defences.
Ken Flo deserves his title shot at BJ but how long is that going to take after this fight? By the time it comes around he might have lost and be out of contention, is not fair on the other guys.
GSP is going to send BJ packing anyway

The Affliction event is happening tonight but Bravo are showing it at 9pm tomorrow night so stay away from the mma sites tomorrow!I find it so difficult to do that, when I'm at home and turn the laptop on my google page has news links to sherdog, & ufc

who are you on sherdog? Im the same as here, not many posts though, about 50 or so. I find sherdog moves too quickly and a post gets buried so fast you can never really get into a debate. Its great for all the latest goings on though.
I just lurk on sherdog. Forum moves far to quickly and to many dheads on there to bother.Great for news and rumours still.
