Floyd Mayweather Jr wants to come out of retirement for a possible rematch with Ricky Hatton next year.
Hatton's lawyer Gareth Williams said Mayweather Jr, who retired after he dismantled Hatton inside 10 rounds last year, has approached the Briton's camp.
However, Hatton wants to negotiate a lucrative bout with Filipino Manny Pacquiao in the summer.
"The fight we want to make, our preference, is Manny Pacquiao because that is a great fight," Williams said.
"Ricky has made no secret of the fact he wants to take on the best and Pacquiao is regarded as the best.
"We're more than happy to make that fight but it has got to be on acceptable terms."
Pacquiao inherited Mayweather's status as the world's leading fighter following the 29-year-old's eight round victory over Oscar de la Hoya in Las Vegas earlier this month.
The Filipino's comprehensive victory seemed to have paved the way for a bout with Hatton, with Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, stating negotiations were underway - a claim Williams has denied.
"He's not talked to us at all. We're happy to fight Pacquiao but it has to be on our terms," said Williams.
"We won't be bullied or forced into any decision that is not on our terms.
"We've had no contact whatsoever with him. That is the fight we want to make but we've got other options, we will do what is best for us."

He should fight Pacquiao at 140. If he fights PBF at 147 he will get the same treatment as last time. PBF is too damn good for Hatton and Hatton has no chance. The only way I could see Hatton *maybe* beating him is if PBF takes the fight at 140 (which will likely never happen)
PBF should fight Margarito or Paul Williams but he won't because those fights are far too risky for him.

If Hatton can secure a fight with Manny at 140, that's the ideal option, and would give a massive pay deal to both fighters.
Whoever won could then line up a fight against MM - for that final top up of the pension fund.
Whatever happens, it's nice for us to be able to look forward to some big fights in 2009.

Except I think PBF would still be tad too good at 140. Let's hope Ricky beats Manny and calls it a day...
Manny vs Hatton has gotta be the next one no doubt about it.and it would/will be one hell of a fight. Both are busy fighters and i think Hatton hs learned a lot form his new management and PBM.
Which brings me on to PBM, If Hatton does win against Manny( And i believe he can) the yes bring PB back..Hatton will have learned from the lst fight with him, and hopefully learned to control the fact that he got dragged in by all the hype, a st ref and a quality fighter( that there is no doubt about) So hopefully he would be controlled in the way he worked it around teh squre circle..AIMHO

Hatton would get whipped by PBF at 140 or 147 - it wouldn't matter.
PBF vs PacMan would get me PPVing though ...
Indeed! Hopefully Hatton will do us all a favour and get the fight at Wembley to save on travelling. The last few fights have been a bit lightweight but a fight with Manny would see me ticket hunting.PBF vs PacMan would get me PPVing though ...

+1 I'd have to see that fight live, it'd be a proper war. I can't wait.

Well the fights not going to happen......or thats what they're trying to make us believe. I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear in a weeks time that Manny has signed at 50/50 and we're all happy again.
+ 1 on that. Be a cracking fight.Vette_1978 said:

also interesting to see that both PBF and DLH's camps both interested in a fight with ricky.
DLH see's the $ signs and would get a battering. PBF see's the $ signs and knows he'd whup Ricky again. Once you're a bunny it's hard to be the fox!Apparently Hattons lawyer said if the signed contract was 52-48 they'd not sign. See what happens next week.
Swallow your pride Ricky, fight Manny and watch your stock rise into the stratosphere.
