We've had over-rated - how about under-rated?

A few suggestions to start with:

- Roque Santa Cruz (didn't rate him at Bayern, but has an uncanny knack of being in the right place in the box)
- Lassana Diarra (the new Makelele?)
- George Boateng
- Adam Johnson (better than club-mate Downing?)
- Brad Friedel (most consistent Prem keeper?)

Adam Johnson, I feel when Downing moves in Jan he will take his place, I did hear that Ramos is keen to take him to Real Madrid.. biggrin

Always liked Scott Parker - seems to have a good attitude to the game.

Jamie Bullard is now gettign success he deservd from being a one man wigan team last season

on 606 last night roque santa cruz was sgged off to the hilt by blackburn fans.

he does donate alot of his wage to his homeland charities to help slum kids and such like - so, decent bloke.

under-rated playesr of yesteryear...Paul Parker - man utd, henning berg (2 goal line clearances in treble '99 season)
I think Santa Cruz has been slated for saying that he wants to join Man City and since saying it hasn't looked interested. GGood player though

Antonio Valencia and Wilson Palacios of Wigan. Both incredible talents. Only a matter of time before the big boys pay serious money for these two.

Blimey a thread that has mentioned 3 villa players and one ex villa player all in a positive light.

I'm lost for words.

Seems to be a lot of keepers mentioned here so inkeeping with this (see what I did there!), Pepe Reina who has won the Golden glove award for the last 3 seasons and is on course to do it again this season. Doesn't get much of a mention and is still only in his mid-20's

steven taylor at newcastle is an england captain in the making, huge talent and great leadership potential. took the U21s within a whisper of glory, stood up in THAT penalty shoot out to take a penalty despite haobbling for the last ten minutes AND he scored (england lost 17-16 or something) the man is a legend and must be worth £15M of any clubs money.

Richard Dunne at Man City - Better than Micah Richards but doesnt get the Credit.

All three mentioned are English too smile Capello needs to drop Lampard, Terry, Gerrard and the other England Part timers and get these lads some experience before the march through the World Cup in 2010...

I guess he gets more plaudits than some of the others mentioned on the thread, but still under-rated for just how good he is! The likes of Kirkland and Carson who were allegedly good enough to be considered for the future England No 1 jersey hadn't managed to get him out of the side when they left Liverpool and as mentioned, Reina is hardly an elder statesman!

Which three? Richard Dunne??? Has he not played about 50 times for the Republic of Ireland.
