Well the police have released pictures of 16 fans they want to put before the courts for abusive/insulting behaviour and the FA will then ban them from attending matches for life.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/77741...

Right or Wrong?

Where does this end? Is calling the referee a wker in the same league as the songs sung to Campbell?

Take away the fans (sometimes over-exuberant) passion and what are you left with?

As long as its not violent and is controlled at the time should the police be spending time on this?

Frankly (and being a spurs fan) I have precious little sympathy with Sol - we all know he took our money (he was valued at the time at £18m) and handed it to Arsenal - WHAT DID HE EXPECT TO HAPPEN NEXT?

I know we've had this discussion on the Spurs thread but anyone got any further thoughts in light of todays news?

Even if I knew who they were I would not grass them up. They sang a few songs big deal, I would like to be called a queer for 100,000 quid a week.

He's paid whatever her's paid to play football. Why should anyone ahve to suffer abuse to his lifestyle or colour just because he's paid a lot to kick a football around?

To the tune of Chelsea's "Sing, Sing wherever you may be"

"Sol, Sol, wherever you may be
you're on the brink of lunacy
and we don't a f*ck if your hanging from a tree
you're a judas c**t with hiv"

Was the one most complained about I'm told.

Nasty - but I've heard worse. The Beckham one after the sending off against Argentina in the world cup was just as insulting - granted that I heard it at a Spurs pre-season friendly at QPR.

Because of what he did to Spurs. He left Spurs for Arsenal, that's bad enough but you do forgive but left us for nothing after we turned him into the player he was. I was actually at one of his first games when he come on as a forward against Chelsea, in fact it may have been his first game. He went on a free so he could pocket all the money for himself and the club got nothing for him. That to me shows he is a greedy B8stard with no regard for Spurs or the fans so he can kiss my chocolate starfish as far as I am concerned. All the abuse he gets is deserved ..nuff said.

Oh and I never abuse him BTW, but I can understand people that do.

If you're not gay but you take deep offense about being called a homosexual, surely that means you're are in fact homophic? So it's Sol that is in the wrong, clearly he hates gays and that is why he reacts so badly to the taunts

How did he get out of his Arsenil contract? Did portsmouth pay a fee for his services?

there is a view that you can go to football matches and cos you pay your £40 quid you can chant whatever you like.

I think this is something that goes with the tribal menatlity of football. Abusing the opposing players sits ok with me as long as it doesn't involve racist abuse - which is the last stand of the retard imho.

were the same fans singing that at the world cup or euro champs where he and england had valid goals dissallowed which would have won teh game - doubt it. although they will just say he was still at spurs then.

they should be publicly shat on and banned from games for 5 years.

if that abuse had happened at Leeds rugby league other fans would have pointed the culprits out and helped them out of the ground if required.
If you ban fans for shouting things you don't like where does it stop?

The refs a wker = ban?
Leeds fans singing various Munich songs = ban?
Man U fans singing about the death of Don Revie = ban?
Pointing out the state of liverpool and the job prospects of the locals = ban?

Like everything in modern day life, when you walk into a stadium you are subject to the law of the land, and the terms and conditions of the FA, and the football club. You are not allowed to use foul and/or abusive language, and/or make racist and/or homophobic comments.

When the Liverpool fans chanted about Jolean Lescot being "The Elephant Man" I think they just about got away with it on a technicality. Ironically I thought that chant was about the only out of order thing I've heard at Anfield in a long time.

Gutted that we didn't sing "Who's that dying on the runway" or the Harold Shipman song, this year after beating the mancs, I mean what's the world coming to?

Lots of different players get abuse, they should take it as a compliment, it means they are good .

The only reason action is being taken against these supporters is because Judas reported it

What about all the other players who get abused, what would happen if they all went crying to the FA because a fan had called them a or a bd, his acting like a soft tt, the

So if the next time Sol plays at WHL all the Spurs fans abuse the judas , would the club ban all its season ticket holders?

I very much doubt it as there are over 22,000 of us , it may have an affect on attendances and revenue hehe
