So how come Tim Cahill is punished for 'supporting' his brother who was jailed, and David Norris had the same thing... People were in uproar. however, when a club publicly 'supports' someone found guilty of lumping a concrete slab on someone's head there is no action taken? Does it reek of double standards?

Well, there was no real evidence that he did it, supposedly there were witnesses that saw him go back to his hotel room (and stay there) before the incident happened and someone else confessed to carrying out the attack but the evidence was ignored during his trial.

The simple diffence is that Liverpool FC are supporting the protest against the judgement. Cahill and the other fella offered support to a convicted friend/relative without any suggestion that they are innocent.

They've both been convicted, OK the Liverpool case is dubious but the courts have ruled both cases 'Guilty'. Perhaps the best thing the FA should do is take the same stand on both cases till such times an appeal and an innocent verdict is granted.

If the English FA have doubts then wouldn't they be better off staying neutral to show the Turkish authorities respect, then work on pressurising the Turkish FA to put pressure on the Turkish legal system ? It's called diplomacy.
