1. I'm betting that several of the so-called injured players will make a miracle recovery to play for their clubs at the weekend (I call it "Ryan Giggs Syndrome"). What's to be done? It seems our Premiership megastars don't see it as an honour any more.
2. How do Lescott & Mancienne get in the squad, but Woodgate & Jagielka are left out? OK, as a Blade I'm biased, but Jags has been one of the most consistent centre-backs I've seen in the Prem this season.

1. It's the 'club pays your wages' issue... I sort of agree, and disagree at the same time. It sucks when your player is injured on international duty.

2. Agree entirely...

It is getting beyond a joke with all the players pulling out but on the plus side it'll give some of the players lower down the standings to get a chance, this is afterall how Gareth Barry got his first England cap and now he's an England regular.

Shame Walcott is now out, he would've been a real threat to the Germans I think but I'm sure SWP will be a good replacement.

Score prediction: 2-1 England

Right, since the majority of you are English on here I'll ask this question...

Why do the supporters and media play up the Vaterland vs England as another World War?

Germany is more peaceful and a beautiful country and they are now one of our Allies. Being part German and mostly English I find it quite upsetting seeing the war parallels being shown again.

It was one (crazy) man that wanted to make Germany as strong as the Roman Empire. He was Austrian, not one of us, don't hold it against my relations for what he did.

It has gone beyond rivalry, its almost militant. I class myself as a Scot anyway, I'll be supporting Germany fleetingly, I don't really care who wins.

It's true though.

I've been laughing at the Scots hailing Maradona as a hero - some people are really need to chill out a bit.

So neither of the following score lines would illicit an emotional response?

Germany 7 England 1

Germany 0 England 5

And you call yourself English?

It's soccer, completely irrelevant to me. I find it dull (and I watch marathons so have a high boredom threshold!) hehe
