Any Climbers/Boulderers on the mighty PH?

I've just begun to get back into climbing in a serious way and I'm rediscovering my love of bouldering.
Problem is I climb too much on my hands and not enough on my feet, so I keep shredding the skin on my fingers! Any tips?
Also, what are some of your favourite places to climb, maybe we could get a list of climbing gyms and out doors places etc.

To start us off I recommend Awesome walls in Liverpool and Stockport, good places with helpful staff.

Let slip the dogs of chalk!!!

Get your feet higher to take pressure off your hands (difficult on overhangs though!).

St Werburghs in Bristol is a good wall, not that I've been there in ages...

Yep, thats the badger!
But theres a difference between knowing it, doing it and feeling like you're doing it. And I like the showy nature of doing big hand over hand things, it just feels really good.

Used to do a lot of trad climbing, but not ben out for years. Was at Baggy Point a few weeks back and the urge to get out again came flooding back.

What is it with ninja's and climbing? Shadowninja is a climber too.

I don't do much, and I'm not very good, but I like bouldering. We've got a couple of centres in Guildford, Craggy Island being the biggest (read busiest), but the Uni has a good bouldering section.

Sounds like you need to start trying some of the more delicate problems. Being able to beast the big jugs is all very well but not many outdoor climbs are nice a juggy the whole way up...

Ok, i know what climbing is(d'oh, its not hard to work it out), but is bouldering where people go scrambling over huuuge boulders?(again, d'oh) If so, i wouldnt mind learning to do that, looks like fun, guys do it at stanage edge between sheffield and hathersage, looks mighty impressive!!

Sounds like a right laugh, been out playing at Symonds Yat with a training group over the last few weeks. Still nice to play at if a little slippery this time of year, if somewhat cool in the shade...
Anyone fancy playing?

Snigger, big jugs, teehee.

Cough, anyway, I'm currently working on my slopers and crimping and loving it! Slopers are tricky little blighters and my fingers aren't strong enough for loads of crimping. Still loving the climbing though!.

Bouldering is low level stuff with no ropes that tests your technique and often power. I love it even though I'm average and only managing problems at about level V3 or V4. Apparently there are some really nice problems in Sheffield and the biggest in door bouldering centre in Europe is over there isn't it? The Climbing works?

I've done a little bit of climbing & bouldering not so long back & it's something I want to get into. The only problem is that I live MILES away from any indoor centres to practice (the Fens).
Thankfully I'm moving to civilization (Midlands) in January so I'll be a lot closer to better/any facilities & the playground that is Wales.

I'm up for having some fun though if anyone knows anywhere, I'll travel for good facilities but I'm pretty much a total beginner, I'd say. yes

My last time was at RedPoint in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago.

I wonder if this will relieve Craggy in Guildford. That place is always far too busy unless you get there early.

I used to force myself not to use my hands by finding a nice gentle beginners wall (i.e. one with a positive gradient, however slight) and traversing that without hands. Tricksy.
