Anyone see that brilliant documentary on More4 last night about Ali and Frazier? I didn't really know any of the precise history between the two but it gave a fascinating insight into the pair.

Ali basically big time trash talked Frazier, called him all the names under the sun. Basically made Joe out to be a friend of the "white man" and made it into a kind of race thing.

Poor old Frazier now still has a rue smile on his face when he says he made Ali the way he is now - he's never forgiven him for what he said.

edit: it was this documentary:

Recorded it, plan to watch it later this week. If it's anything like as good as "when we were kings" it will be excellent.

Some time since I watched Ali but I recall that Will Smith gave a pretty strong performance.

Read a review in the Guardian (not mine, but somebody elses in the office) and it was well recommended. Recorded it and plan to watch it later this week.

"When We Were Kings" is an awesome flick. The noise of Foreman on the heavy back as Ali went in to train was just phenomenal.

Ditto, don't tell us the result.

BTW, about the time When We Were Kings was done, the BBC made their own version. It was actually better, and deserves another screening.
