In areas with many football teams (London, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Midlands)how are home matches rotered?
Obviously Man city and Man Utd , Arsenal/Spurs , Sheff Wed/Utd cannot play at home on the same day - but what about other nearby teams-is their a specific system used?
Also is there a rota to ensure season by season that a team gets a first and last day Home match?

Not sure how it works in London or the NW, but in the Midlands, Aston Villa and Wolves will (generally) be at home on the same weekend, and Birmingham and West Brom likewise. When this is not possible due to teams playing each other or cup matches, they are arranged on different days.

God knows how they work it all out. Swansea groundshare with the Ospreys so the fixtures have to be coordinated with different weekends with two different sports!

In Lancashire (excluding Greater Manchester)

Usually Blackpool, Blackburn and Accrington are paired together, with Preston and Burnley are paired together.

And last weekend, south wales police wouldn't allow Swansea at home to clash with Wales at home in the rugby in Cardiff.

As if the Watford fans were going to go on the rampage rolleyes

Its not just rival teams that have to be kept apart. Councils have to submit weekends where they have shows on (an air show for example) or anything that will cause traffic congestion.

They always do that - the Swans never play the same time as Wales. Think its so the fans can watch the rugby!! They usually move fixtures that clash with international rugby to Friday night.
