The North Face
Discussion
I like it, and find their stuff is very good when working outdoors as well, as good as other stuff like Colombia etc, if not slightly better as the cut seems to fit me a little better.
Although I did have my North Face beanie on as I drove to work this morning with the roof down in the Porsche, which I guess might fit the description you talk about...

Overpriced lifestyle clothing or aspirational brand, the clothing equivalent to BMW, worn (mostly) by tossers.

11 years ago I bought a North Face Mountain Jacket for work. I still use it regularly today. It's lost some of the colour, and has a few stains, but all the stitching is intact, the zips are all still in perfect order, as are the pockets.Discuss
It cost me £300 and has been worth every penny. I also bought a new fleece recently, £150 North Face. I expect to get at least 10 years from that too.
Am I a tosser?

Nothing wrong with The North Face but the cognoscenti buy Rohan.
Once you've travelled in Rohan stuff you'll never buy anything else.
They used to market their 'Bags' trousers on the basis they'd roll up to the same size as a can of coke.Nothing wrong with The North Face but the cognoscenti buy Rohan.

Which was useful, if you carried trousers in a cupholder...

There's nothing wrong with TNF equipment. It's just a shame that because it's good stuff and a well established brand, the scallies of this world buy it for the name.
Buy Mountain Equipment if you're not old and want even better stuff... it's British too.

I got a load of Mountain Equipment gear when I climbed Kilimanjaro a few years ago and it's good stuff. I also have a couple of TNF coats too - it's all good quality kit that fits and works well, and isn't so brightly coloured that you look like a hiker when wearing it in town.Still - nothing like a sweeping generalisation to start the morning!
North Face make some excellent gear, got a nice 'Ice Jacket' down filled Parka, gore-tex hiking boots and long sleeve windsheet for running/mountain biking.
Can't fault the quality of the gear and durability, boots have been around the best scrambles in Snowdonia and look like new.
I have noticed the brand much more of late, especially as an urban accessory but nothing wrong with that. You tend to get what you pay for with outdoor gear.
