Can't see a thread on this so here goes....

Obviously his two wild card picks were a little controversial? I especially mean Poulter! If he couldn't be bothered trying to qualify in his own right, why hand him a wild card? I know his attitude appears a little like Faldo; ie single minded and will always do what he wants FOR HIM, but surely Darren Clark would have been a better team player?

And will we win?

I agree with Faldo though, he picked on form. Monty and Clark have played well in ryder cups before but what gives them the right to be in the team?

Pity the England football manager never picked on form, then we wouldn't have to put up with Lampard anymore.

Of course we will..

Faldo picked the best players in his wildcards, not the biggest personalities..

Over the past few weeks, months - Monty has or is washed up, Darren Clarke has just found a bit of form, but lacks the consistency. It was one thing doing it for Europe in the last Ryder cup in Ireland, but in the yanks own back yard.. Thats another thing.

Both Casey and Poulter have demonstrated they can live with the pressure and type of course in America.

Vahalla is a big, beat you up, Long hitting, target golf type of course, which requires big hitting go for it young guns IMHO. Its matchplay as well.. grinding out pars might not be good enough this year - reaching the par 5's in 2 and getting lots of birdies on the long par 4's will win the Ryder Cup.

Casey, Poulter, Stenson, Sergio, Westwood, Karlsson & Hansen will get the birdies.. Where as the other IN FORM players of the year - Rose, Padraig, Jiminez, McDowell & Wilson should play the steady play, getting parsand keeping the pressure on the Yanks..

The team has a good balance of young and old... Bring on the 19th..!

Unfortunately I agree on Monty. Clark though, does have a recent form spike and does raise his game on occasion.

I am more worried about the European team losing some of the genuine TEAM spirit; in my opinion, this is the biggest danger to us with all teh chest beating and high fives over there.

Great piece about one of the UK caddies, cant remember which one where he suggested to his US master that maybe the guy should find a US caddy for the Cup. He then went on to say the above; ie - they can get on with their high fives etc to their hearts' content smile

I think Monty would have wilted against the crowds given his form this year. Difficult to say that though - given his Ryder performances in the past.

mmmmm....not sure. Personally think that Clark given his mental strength would be a better bet than Rose, who appears to me to wilt a bit under pressure. Monty in the past has allways seemed to find his form when it comes to the Ryder cup, but given his play this year I agree that it would be difficult to pick him. I still think it will be very much on the day(s), but so hoping that we do well.

I'd have gone for Darren ahead of Poulter, both on form and on pedigree. I'm sure Faldo was being disingenuous and that Poulter was given the nod ahead of Gleneagles. He's a mate of Faldos. Casey was a shoe in.
