Seems a little unfair.

The reason for the poor success on the track and field was down to individuals performance.

So rather than working on the next 4 years to do better, they are going to sack and restructure.

Surely this is not the best option

Oh, you mean they should just persevere like they do with the English football team?

Why do so many people tolerate failure and mediocrity in the UK?

But if the individual athletes made cock ups surely this is down to THEM not him.

Any sporting team that trades managers when they lose end up in a cycle of managers, because none of them are given the time to improve things.

As Brendan Foster said on Sunday, it's the job of the man at the top to put in place the structure to allow athletes to perform. Dave Collins had been under fire for quite a while prior to the Olympics so this parting of ways is not surprising.

Collins had a good CV but it was lacking in one important place - athletics experience. Also, he wasn't a coach - he was supposed to be in charge of coaches to a degree, but he had no experience of coaching. I think he brought some good things to the job but ultimately he paid the price for UKA's ineffectual organising of the sport.

Van Comennee - get him in.
