Not sure if anyone here is into UFC and saw UFC 87 on Saturday?

I was massively impressed with Brock Lesnars second ever UFC fight, he came in and destroyed a guy with over 40 fights to his name.

The size difference was immense!! I recon Lesnar must have weighed in at around 285 pounds for the fight, he made a 250 pound Herring look small.

It bodes well for the future of the Heavyweight division in the UFC, we get some much needed excitement and someone who divides opinions.

Check out the charge he goes on after the punch, imagine over 20 stone coming at you at that speed...

Setanta have an exclusive deal with the UFC now, so it's a case of having to get Setanta to see UFC events now.

I didnt hesitate in paying the extra £12 a month but im really into UFC, saying that id feel better about it if setanta showed anything else I might like to watch, but ho hum.

It used to be on Bravo a week after the live event, but that has expired now.

I thought he was around 265?

If you watch some of his training on youtube he is immense. And I have no doubt is stronger than anyone else in the UFC.

Cant belive I missed this, is it repeated on setanta anytime?

Brock was fantastic in that fight. He is a real promising fighter who will keep getting better and better for some time. For an intro into MMA fighting Frank Meer and Herring he did fantastic. Amazing strength huge size and freakish speed to boot.

I haven't got setanta as it guts me to pay £10 per month for 1 event. Instead I download them as they come available on Torrents fairly quickly after the events are aired in the US.

Worth looking out for the Fedor & Tim syliva fight in Afflication, it wasn't aired in the UK so must be legal to download I guess. Big Tim was one of the best heavyweights in the UFC and despite Fedor not fighting top level opponents for some, detroyed the big man and broke his own hand in the process!

No way, Kimbo is a waste of space, yes he has a highlight reel of knocking out men on the street, but when fighting James Thompson (UK fighter) he looked really gassed, James should have won that and almost had Kimbo beat, but the ref stopped the fight when James' cauliflour ear burst. That was not stopping him fighting or effecting his game. A very poor biased ref stoppage to ensure that Kimbo's name was not tarnished.

I think lesnar would destroy Kimbo.

Fitter, probably stronger, quicker.

Just watching it at the moment and had a few thoughts. No doubt, he's a big guy and very powerful so not many can compete with him on that level. But as a fighter he's got a lot of work to do. So many times he had his back and didn't try to choke him out, he was just happy to hold him down and throw some knees and punches. Then he mounted twice and lost it and never took advantage of it (I'm not counting the final one as there wasn't much time.) Don't forget, it went the full distance.

I didn't see that much other than a big guy who was using it to his advantage. Put him up against Arlovski or Couture and it'd be interesting to see what happens. Even against a bigger guy such as Sylvia would be interesting as he wouldn't be able to dominate on his size alone.

Thing to remember is it's only his second fight in the UFC. Looking at his progression from the Mir fight to the Herring fight showed he is picking things up very quickly, and by his own admission still has a lot to learn. Imagine him as much improved again for his next fight, frightening prospect.

He'll go back and keep training stand up and BJJ, and probably watch the fight back and idenify where he should have finished it.

I can see his next fight being seriously gruesome, another 6 months of learning to hurt people and he'll be almost unstoppable.

Im guessing Kongo will be next, should be a good fight for Lesnar as he could dominate Kongo on the ground and try a few finishing moves now his experience and confidence is growing.

As for 265 pounds, that's what he cuts too to make the Heavyweight weight limit, a few hours before the fight he weighed 280 pounds according to the announcers, and probably spent those few hours eating whole cows by the size he looked when he entered the octagon.

Also like that he is dividing opinion with his (admitedly silly) post fight antics, nothing better than a fighter who is loved or hated, adds to the fun of watching the fights. Im tired of all the "he was a nice competitor and my new best friend, and we're going out for milkshakes after the fight" softly softly approach, Lesnar gives a big UP YOURS to all that and comes out and says it like it is, some people hate that but it'll make him an even bigger draw.

Edit: Setanta will no doubt repeat it, they have weekly TV schedules on their website, probably be on setanta 2 at some point.

Never seen much of the UFC, but watched parts of this over lunch - Lesnar is pretty darned awesome. Always figured he was wasted in the WWE. He's definitely got the speed, and no doubt he has the strength. Just got to work on his ring technique.
