We (LFC) aren't in the best position right now with The Two Jokers for owners, but Everton seem to be even deeper. 3 new players supposedly coming in this week, but is that enough?

It's a friendly... The CEO resigned because Bill was seeking advice from a very rish friend. The manager has not threatened to leave. 'Star' striker was basically a substitute last season as Yak was getting most of the games in our 4-5-1 formation. They were partnered up at the start, but wasn't getting results. As such AJ was surplus to requirements. Anichebe, and Vaughn, and now Baxter all look very promising, so 10.5 mill for AJ is too good to pass up, especially as his goal tally being so low. We don't have new players, except for Pienaar, but Everton are infamous for doing things behind closed doors, and late transfers. I'm not worried. As to the Chairman wanting to sell, that is no surprise. BK has for a long time said he would sell to the right people. He bought the club to basically get it away from Johnson, who was a leech. he has done wonders in that time, taking us from relegation, to Euro contenders. There is a lot of worry amongst fans, but the media are doing nothing to help. Chief Executive has resigned.

What I will say is the whole stadium issue. KEIOC, and the bordering councils, as well as LCC have done nothing but block, complain, and what have you. Everton need a new stadium to get the finance that other clubs have, (GP was one of the greatest stadiums in the world, but she needs serious refurbishment, or we need to move)...
Either way, I have heard for many year the doom, and gloom merchants in and around Everton, and the club will always rise above it.

Sorry but that attendance even for a friendly is VERY poor BM
We (Spurs) had a full house (sell out) for our last pre-season friendly today. You should be pulling more in with just a week to go before the kick-off.
Yes it is, but hardly heralding in an era of doom, and gloom. We had that era in the nineties, and early 2000's... It's amazing how much doom and gloom there can be spouted about a team that has gone from annual relegation fodder, to euro candidates, and 3 top 6's in the last 6 seasons, or there abouts. We are now a team that can beat anybody on there day, and are no longer hoping for draws, but wins. However, that will not stop some folks from standing upon their soapbox and decrying the end of the world. It is like this every season...We (Spurs) had a full house (sell out) for our last pre-season friendly today. You should be pulling more in with just a week to go before the kick-off.
I hear your in for Alan Smith - the non-scoring goal-scorer - jeepers thats a backwards move for Moyes Boys, I mean, even the Newcastle fans don't want him.

Get in for Santa Cruz or someone of his ilk or face another season with no hope I'm afraid.

Do Everton fans still think DM will be at the helm this time next year?
Not sure, but that will have been here since 2002, so if he was to stay that lenght of time, I doubt anyone would really begrudge him going elsewhere. It's a pretty long tenure as a premiership manager. I'd love him to stay, and he seems to like the club, but who knows... There are other 'top' managers who have survived for less time, and had less impact. It seems we are the only Premiership club to not to sign any players before todays start to the season, Six players out , only one fit forward for todays match agains Blackburn (yak) forced to include six academy players , David has his work cut out for a couple of weeks I think.
it could be worse we could have had Arsenal away today

No new players in then
There is still time. Moyes says we have money, but he wants to bring the right chaps in. Rumours abound of players. Milito, Johnson (Michael, not Andy), etc, but to be honest, the reviews Baxter, Rodwell, et al have recieved makes me think Moyes reckons we have decent players from the youth/reserve, and he isn't going to bring in any mediocre squad fillers. I trust the fellow, so I'm not worried. alfa phil said:
I agree with you as i said on Monday, but the squad seems so thin on the ground, i do think we will miss A.J , did hear he had a bust up with David during the friendly against Preston , hed gone within the week , we dont want money in the bank we want good playes on the pitch
We have good players on the pitch. What we don't want are VDM's, etc, who have promise, but fail to deliver. We have decent players for the bench, and Cahill, Hibbo, etc should be back fairly soon. As I said, still time.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
