ESPN toughest sports...

Agree, or disagree... Personally I fail to see how some get in. Baseball harder than soccer?

MMA would win this surely, broken arms, KO's submissions? Boxing does have the added stupidity of repeatedly punching people in the head and having standing 8 counts though.
How is soccer even listed? its basically non contact aside from some overly gay play acting and the odd act of brutality outwith the rules of the game.

Oh, I dunno... Running for 90 minutes. You may not like the sport, BUT you do have to be fit to play it, especially in today's leagues. They cover quite a few miles in that 90 minutes. Oh, and it baseball is in it, then cricket should be, especially with the fact the fielders don't have cows attached to their hands.
The thing many people forget or don't notice about football injuries and taclkes, is that often two people are running near on as fast as they can then collide. Its like being hit with something very heavy in the shins when that happens.
Its not the contact, its the speed of contact that really is the issue..
MMA for me though.

ESPN Office Line Backer, Probably one of the toughest sports around.

Shin pads? Someone put it rather well the other day... Lawn Fairies Its not the contact, its the speed of contact that really is the issue..

Would go with MMA being pretty tough, and good old rugger! You always feel fked for a good few days after a game.
Oh, can I also vote for Women's Hockey too? Went training with them once... fk!

Like womens, just with more power and speed, I played county feild hockey for 5 years and never really got injured.
Although I broke a few bones of other peoples with the ball
The list tries to measure 'tough' as in 'difficult', rather than 'how likely you are to be injured'. Probably an impossible and pointless exercise.
BTW - Flintoff may be a big lad, but there are plenty of blokes who can only dream about being as 'fat' as him (see also Frank Lampard). In any case, Cricket could be classed as tough whichever way you look at it - it's highly skilled and batting against 90mph bowlers is not without danger.
PS - What's MMA?

The ESPN rates different attributes out of ten, then adds them up. But it fails to notice that some attributes are more important thatn others. Not only that, but the usefulness of an attritbute varies from sport to sport. If one of the sports had an attribute of 10.0 out of 10.0, then to acheive that skills well would be very hard, and should imply that that sport is tougher than many others.
So there!
So there!
