Sadly, after investing so much time last year in watching the event just to see it turn into a total drugs-fest, we won't be bothering this time around.

Looking forward to tonight's highlights.

I don't think the sport is clean yet and (just like my sport, athletics) never will be 100% clean but last year showed they are making moves in the right direction.

Can we get spoiler alerts back please? Or at least change the title to include "Warning spoilers!" frown

Oops! redface

Sorry, I was a tad over-excited.

S'alright, I'll just avoid opening the thread again between about 3:30pm and when I've watched the highlights each evening.

Never missed this event in the past, but the drug issues have made me lose interest completely.

Manuel Beltran from the Liquigas team has tested positive for EPO. Lets hope this year it isn't going to be such a big problem. Drugs cheats really ruin the sport and are the main reason why I havent followed it as much the past few years.

yesterdays was fantastic, Richardo Ricco's breakaway and chase down of the leader over the last climb was awesome, he went past the first breakaway like they were standing still

. . .and another alleged doping case! Personally I wish they would keep the info under wraps until the 2nd test has been carried out. Why does it take so long to carry out the 2nd test anyway. Not that difficult. It rarely happens that the 1st test is negated though. If the process of proving guilt involves two tests, well, it just seems fairer to wait.

Oh, dont know if its been mentioned, but those of you with Sky HD. . .Channel 412 smile

I'm hoping that last and this year will root out the old generation of riders used to institutionalised doping and the new generation of clean young riders can come through. Of course there will still be cheats but (hopefully) far less prevalent than in the past.

Some of the teams are going to great lengths to keep blood profiles of their riders both to show cleanliness and to monitor for illness/overtraining.
