Just knocked 1min 20 off my half marathon row (21097m) time so now under 1 hour 45, ok not the fastest time, but faster than i could run a half marathon.

shoulders are a little sore at the moment, burt off 1170 cals so think i need to go and get a chinese meal to refill me.

annoying I did the first half to get under 1 hour 40, but i faded fast.

never mind will try again, then try and beat my PB for the marathon row.

Thats f'ing amazing. I simply cannot row for more than a few thousand metres. I hate rowing and give up.

What you have done takes some effort - good stuff

Well done - I'm not sure either if I would have the patience to sit down and row for that long, especially not a whole marathon either. The most I've ever done in one sitting is about 10k which from memory used to take me just over 45 mins.

What rating were you on and what was the average split?

I'm really thinking of byuing a Concept 2 rower for the winter months. I've quit the gym as I've been doing so much cycling this year, but I miss the rowing machine. For me there was no other piece of equipment that kept me fit, strong & motivated.

I was happy to get through it as only been back at gym 3 weeks after a 2.5 month layoff, I had no stamina in that 2.5 months which has now seemed to be cured by me taking multi vitamins (single person bad diet).

I am not the quickest of rowers, when I do 2000m I am normally pace is around 2.03 for 500m, 5000k about 2.09 and 10000k around 2.15.

this half marathon I started at 2.20 pace but faded to give a average of 2.29.
my full marathon pace was a avg 2.36 (3h 39min in 2008). would like to get my times down to under 1.40 and 3.30 this year.

when I row i am normally on a level 5,

I've spent donkeys years rowing, so just to let you know that 5 is about right, most concept 2's are different due to wear and tear, and there is a test you can do to ensure you get the same resistence regardless of the machine

I can't remember exactly which buttons you have to press to go into this mode, but let me know if you are interested and I'll work it out when I am next down at the rowing club

As far as I can remember on ergos with PM2 displays (usual model c) you press ready+reset to display drag factor. On PM3 displays (all model d/e) there is a "display drag factor" option in the preferences.

I would aim for a drag factor of around 135. smile

That sounds right, although it's been a while since I was bothered about the drag factor (thankfully), so can't remember what we used to set them to

tried for the marathon today
only managed to do 35194m out of the 42195m in 3 hours so was on to beat my best time by 5 mins.
the 9 blisters on my left hand stopped me.
