Good news for lower league and non-league clubs with prize funds being raised for every round. The most significant rise being from the 3rd round up.

The First games of this seasons FA Cup campaign were played last night in the Extra Preliminary round, with Brading Town (IOW) winning 3-1 at Wantage Town, and Needham Market FC beating Thetford Town FC away 1-0. I'm off down the A303 to Midsomer Norton soon to watch Welton Rovers v Poole Town in the same round. Both clubs currently top their leagues with 100% records.

This is where it all kicks off for me in the Cup this season.

They are in "Ridgeons" Eastern counties league which is step 5 of non league football, 9 levels down from the Premiership.
This is how the Football league pyramid works.

Nice one Skyline. Your team should enter the Cup around the middle of September (regional) I think.

I've been following the fortunes of Poole Town for the last two seasons, It fits in well with looking after the folks as well as a good drive down to the coast. They also play good attacking football and are a tidy little club. We've got Willand Rovers of the Toolstation Premier league in the FA Cup On Saturday, and if we beat them then it's Merthyr Tydfil at home in the next round. So far Poole town have won all six competitive games scoring 16 goals and conceding zero, and are three leagues below your team.

The games greatest Knockout competition saw another round over the weekend, the Preliminary round. I was at Poole Town v Willand Rovers where the home team won 2-1 after Willand had taken a deserved early lead.

Preliminary Round results. How did your local non league team do.

follow Chasetown a bit too. Cousin used to play for youth team, also happens to be about 10 minutes away. Did well last season. How are FCUnited doing this season by the way?

FC United of Manchester are in the Unibond Premier league, three leagues below League Two. They won on Saturday 3-1 against Whitby Town in front of 2071 fans. They come into the FA cup in the later rounds.
