Adebayor: I'll Play Like Henry When I'm Paid Like Henry

Emmanuel Adebayor has elaborated on his Arsenal ultimatum, insisting he will only stay if the club pays him as much as they paid Thierry Henry…

It was revealed earlier this week that Adebayor is demanding a whopping 400 per cent pay-rise, which would see his weekly wage increase from ₤30,000 to ₤120,000.

The Togolese striker has rejected the Gunners’ ₤60,000 compromise and appears to be edging ever close to an Emirates exit this summer, as the higher-ups are losing patience.

The 24-year-old believes he deserves to be paid as much as former team-mate Henry was, insisting it is a logical quandary as much as anything.

“People ask if I’m asking for the same salary as Henry,” he told News of the World. “That is not necessarily the question.

“But I am being considered a worthy replacement for Henry while not deserving his salary. The question lies on this level.

“Either Arsenal give me what I want and I stay or they don’t and I leave.”

Barca Bound?

AC Milan and Barcelona are both hot on Adebayor’s heels, and it believed they would have to pay over ₤30million to snare their man.

Barca have taken the biggest strides so far, having sent officials to London recently to open negotiations.

It was originally thought the former Monaco man would prefer a move to San Siro to link up with ex-Gunner Mathieu Flamini, but he hinted that Camp Nou in fact holds the greater attraction.

“Milan are a big club but the fact they are not playing in the Champions League next season is less of a challenge,” Adebayor said.

“Barcelona have made a good financial offer. Yes, I am still under contract to Arsenal but it’s up to the directors to satisfy my demands. Otherwise, I’ll leave.

“You have to take advantage of the moment. Why not go to Barcelona if the manager there already has me in his plans? That means there is a big chance of seeing me there.”

No different than what the most of the Pie and Piston say about the Council workers strike - If you don't like the pay then find another job. I don't see the problem.

This is the bit that sickens me, for a start he thinks his as good as Henry, and then he states that when he gets the correct amount of money he will play like him, what a wr

30 million euroes = around £24 million

Anything above £20 million and Arsenal are laughing.

Money is quickly ruining football.

Agreed they are greedy. Sadly the muppets that run football clubs are being held to ransom by kids with gobby agents and ego problems.

The fans need to stop blaming players and attack the boards paying these stupid salaries, because if no one will pay the players will concentrate on playing not the cash.

Arsenal No. 32 Theo Walcott has stepped up to claim the No. 14 shirt - last worn by Thierry Henry. Seems there's a bit of a fire lit under Adebayor... More money? Piss off to Milan or Barca...

Ask yourself, would you try to get the best deal for yourself, if it was feasable? Don't blame the players because of the inflated finance in football.

Im not saying that put in a footballers boots i would not hold out for the best deal possible, my problem with this player is he has stated that until he gets what Henry gets he wont play to his best abillities.rolleyesWenger must be so pleased

Now wether you believe that he will ever be as good as Henry is a differant subject, personally he will never be as good, and thats coming from a Spurs supporter

Someone should have just said to him, that he isn't and never coud be what Henry was at his prime so doesnt deserve what he got paid.

Fact is Henry was Arsenal in his prime, much like Ronaldo is/was to utd last season. Adebayor is not even a patch on Henry in terms of shirt sles, popularity, he has nothing, not the swagger, not the elegance.

And to say you would have him over Torres? Are you pissed?

Nope just think Ade would fit in the current squad better - We need a good old fashioned center forward with some muscle in the box.

I think torres is pretty strong when he needs to be tbh. he is ot a big guy, but last night proved he can more than barge over a larger player and muscle people off the ball.

And boy can he run, Ronaldo he aint, but he is very good.
