An article in today's Yorkshire Post suggest Neil Back is the strong contender to take over at Leeds. He would obviously sort our defence out but will need to bring in a backs coach.

He's trying very hard to get the Tigers top job. Might head off if he is over looked. Certainly worked very well with Shane Jennings and Lewis Moody.

I'm still hoping for Jake White at Tigers. His coaching style suits the club and it strengths

The thing with Tigers is, we don't like coaches who have not been players and they don't last very long.
I have a horrid feeling Tigers will appoint someone from within, when there is no quality candidate.

The Meyer link was going around before ML was sacked, but i believe he signed a new contract to end those rumours

No Meyers is out of work he didn't sign a new contract as he wanted the SA job. He didn't get it now the tigers job is between him and D. Young. Source Skysports this afternoon.

Usual warnings apply as its the Daily Mail, but a very detailed announcement:

Leicester have chosen former Springbok assistant coach Heyneke Meyer to make them a force in European rugby again next season.

The South African’s imminent switch from the Pretoria-based Blue Bulls to the Tigers, due to be announced next week, will coincide with one of his English rivals for the vacancy, Neil Back, leaving the club after 18 years.

Back has agreed to take charge of relegated Leeds as their director of rugby after failing to convince Leicester of his readiness to succeed Marcelo Loffreda, the Argentinian sacked three weeks ago after only seven months.

Back, technical coach since retiring three years ago, is to be released to take over at Headingley as part of a deal which will bring Leeds’ England A wing Tom Biggs to Welford Road.

A World Cup winner five years ago, Back had been on one of the most imposing long-lists ever drawn up for a club job.

It featured six coaches from different countries — Wayne Smith (New Zealand), Jake White (South Africa), Eddie O’Sullivan (Ireland), Ewen McKenzie (Australia), David Young (Wales) and Fabien Galthie (France).

Sir Clive Woodward had a direct input into the selection process in his role as a club director and Meyer, widely considered to be the best coach in South Africa, has beaten off all the competition.

Meyer had been clear favourite to succeed White, having been part of the Springbok regime under Nick Mallett and Harry Viljoen.

When the South Africans opted for their first black coach, Pieter de Villiers, Meyer quit after seven years with the Bulls, reportedly saying: ‘If I can’t coach the Boks I don’t want to coach at all.’

Leicester believe the 41-year-old, who studied sports psychology at university, will create the disciplined environment for the club to flourish.

Richard Cockerill, forwards’ coach under Loffreda, and his highly successful predecessor Pat Howard will continue while Meyer talks to a pair of Aussies about joining him — ex-Australia Rugby League wing Les Kiss, defence coach of the Waratahs, and former Wallaby centre Matt O’Connor, recently released as Brumbies backs coach.

This is typical Leeds we get one (potential) great bit of news only to find it means losing another of our home grown quality players. Hope Back can get some Leicester fringe/academy players on loan if he does come.

I think Tigers have been very very cute here and done a smart deal. You'd think Back should be able to get some players from Tigers on loan for Leeds. Hope so anyway as i might be watching a lot of leeds next season
