Why has he retired?? having just hit his peak by beating the Hitman, i do not understand why he has now decided to retire. Is it maybe because he is scared of a rematch with Hatton that would not be on home soil??
Agree it is an odd decision, if that is what he is doing. But he hardly hit his peak against Hatton, that was a pretty routine job by his standards - he'd beat Hatton again in any ring in the world. He has had much bigger fights than the Hatton one and will do again if he carries on!Twit said:

They will call him out, all the boxing fans will want to see the fight, Mayweather will say no then the purse for the fight will go through the roof and he will come back.
Unfortunately for either Cotto or Margarito I reckon Mayweather would beat them.
Yeah, he'll stay 'retired' until there's another huge money match (ie after all contenders have knocked seven bells out of each other) which he would be stupid to turn down ...
So he sits up there unbeaten on this pedestal - 'retired' - and waits for other guys to call him out.
Thing is though, doesn't he have to make mandatory defences any more? If he retires, he relinquishes the belts surely?
Agreed that he would beat Hatton in ANY ring, probably with one hand tied behind his back. He is a tt, but a rich unbeaten one.

If he really has retired then maybe the injuries he's suffered/suffering from and the general fatigue from his career/ fights/ training might be a reason?
He has mentioned that as he gets older and the fights and preparation for them add up he is suffering more and more. His hands have bothered him for a while and are so difficult to sort - I have a problem right hand middle finger knuckle and know how hard it is to get over it even after ages off bag work. It just will not heal and I'm sure I've heard his hands are the big problem.
Age catches up with us all and it's not lime he's much left to achirve or prove, so maybe it's time for the easy life?
