Still Federer for me. Gass courts may be getting easier for Hard Court players, but Grass is still suited to the player who has the best Grass Court Game and that is still Federer.

Its a lot more open this year than previous years, which is great and i do want to see a new Wimbledon champion.

Can't see past another Federer vs Nadal final, but i think Ancic and Djokovic are both worth an outside bet. Unfortunately i can't see Murray threatening

I think possibly Roddick could surprise, even maybe Gasquet. One of the Williams sisters for the woman's title?

i for one won't be watching any womens tennis until the semis - up to that point it's pants.

I think I upset a few people last year by saying female players shouldn't get paid the same as male players. I stand by that still.

Womens' tennis is awful to watch until we get to the latter stages and thus they should be paid as such.
I agree that women shouldn't be paid as much as the men. Men play longer games, bring in bigger crowds and sponsorship deals etc. Its fairly simple for me.

However i totaly disagree with you with regards to Womens tennis being pants up to the Semi's. There are some spectacular games in womens tennis in every round. Tennis isn't and shouldn't be all about the power game of the mens draw. Ok the Williams sisters and Sharapova have pretty big serves and strong shots, but watch players like Ivanovic, Kuznetsova, Dementieva, Jankovic and Hantuchova have tremendous touch and shot selection that they are a joy to watch.

I suggest you watch more of the womens game

I think Nadal has a really good chance this year because:
-he's had a great 2008 and seems to be in the form of his life at the moment.
-Fed has had a terrible year, thus far. Only won 2 minor tournaments, I think.
-Nadal's movement, forehand and, most importantly, his serve have improved significantly.
-Nadal won on Grass at Queens where he dispatched massive servers such as Andy Roddick and Karlovic along the way.
-Fed's footwork, forehand and perhaps his server too seem to be weakening with age.
-Although clay is an entirely different surface, a good indicator of how they're likely to stack up at Wimbledon relative to other years, is the French Open final. In years past, Fed held his own but Nadal was able to edge him out. However, at this year's FO final, Fed was simply annihilated by Nadal (6-0 in the final set, in fact). I suspect this will linger in Fed's mind at Wimbledon.

In fact, in my opinion, it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that Fed won’t make it to the final.

Looks another tough year for the British women. They look unfit, overweight with limited ability
compared with the opposition.

Murray for me, not even a chance of gettng to the final stages. He is not in the same league as others.

Think AM has played quite well today. Got better as the game has gone on, served pretty well, his base line shots were a good length and showed some nice touches at the net.

1st Match at Wimbledon, played pretty well and will get through without dropping a set. Can't do much better IMO.

Why do you say that?

Murray played well against the tricky Santoro. Santaro changes of pace do not screw up Murray as much as others players as he doesn't rely on just power and has good hands.

Murray error was impressively low and he served very well. He used the drop shot too early in the rallies but he pulled most of them off so can't critise too much. However he may come unstuck with this in tighter matches. Also he was clearly enjoying himself and the centre court.

Certainly an encouraging start.

Nadal, Federer,Djokovic to name three would tear him a new one without any doubt in my mind.

I dont rate him, and think he will share similar successes as Henman at Wimbledon

Semi-finalist 3 times IIRC - so top 4 in the tournament 3 time, pretty successful by any measure.

It'd be nice to see him beat Federer on grass like he has on other surfaces but I agree, it's unlikely.

Yes, as you say surface is ever important. Nadal, if he can win here will be a big deal. Winning three on the trot..
