Whey I started a poll.
Me and the boy from work where talking about this today.

I prefer the euros as the games are on at a decent hour, games are quite close and all teams are pretty even (with a few exceptions).

I like the world cup I just dont like the crap that comes with it. Like games at 6 in the morning and x amoutn of countries coming from this part of the world to make it representive.

Dont get me wrong its brill watching brazil, argentina etc. But just prefer the tatics in euro football.

Plus they actually have keepers, it isnt just the worst outfield player stuck in goals, like the african countries.

what do others think?

Sorry Alex - I don't have the faintest idea what your talking about - what Collins penalty?

ps...I'm half Scottish (through my parents) and as a kid growing up in London supported Scotland against England but by the time I got to 11 years old was just sooooo bloody fed up getting beaten that I switched...sadly nothing has changed since and we're a good few years further down the road now...

john collins scored a penalty against brazil in the opening game of france 98 to make it one - one!

Was a brill moment, still remember watching it in my old living room with my wee brother and dad.

Sadly we got beat 2-1 still not a bad result against brazil.

Got to be the world cup. The best of the best compete and there is only one winner.

How can a tournament without Brazil, Argentina, Nigeria etc etc be better than one that has them involved ?

I know what your saying. Its just nearly 90% of the games you watch in the euros are exciting till the last kick of the ball. As were world cup games only really get exciting towards the quater finals.

Interesting argument.

Arguably the best 16 teams in Europe are at Euro 2008 (perhaps except the hosts).

At the World Cup, out of the 32 teams there, you'd have to say that no more than perhaps 15 of the World's best teams are there. There's only 11 or 12 European teams that qualify, plus Brazil and Argentina and maybe one or two others from Africa and South America.

Not sure the timezone argument though.
2 years ago the WC was in Germany which is 1hr ahead. In 2010 it is in South Africa, only 2hrs ahead. In 2014 it is in Brazil on 4hrs behind. Well we just had the Champions League final in Moscow which is in Europe and 3 hours ahead. And even places like Azerbaijan are in the Euro qualifiers and they are even further away.

I refer to the time zones as in south korea/japan 2002 and 1994 usa

No option for "Two Girls"?

Google it at your own risk. And definitely not at work.
