I think he has to be my all time favourite liverpool player - true legend. I just hope one day he wins a title. For those who live in Liverpool they will know how much he does for the local community and disadvanted kids. The guy is a true gentleman.

In this day and age of such negative press its nice to see this.

I've seen some great players in my time - and John Barnes was amazing - but I think Gerrard pips him.

The amount of seasons Gerrard single-handily got us into the champs league and won us many trophies (FA Cups, Champ league) he'll never walk alone.

yes

ISTR he said recently that he cannot see himself playing for another team but he does want to finish his career with a Premiership medal as it is the only one missing from his collection

I think that to win a league he will probably have to move away from liverpool. As well as they play in the cups they aren't there yet as far as the league is concerned.

Gerrard is a wonderful player - shame the rest of the current squad don't complement him.
However, Dalglish, Rush, Keegan all had more impact imo.
My all time favourite is Souness. Was a monster of a player who totally bossed the midfield. Had class & skill when called for too.
Was gutted when he left.
Pity he'll be remembered for his failings as a manager rather than as a great player.

Needs to do better for England to be a true legend...

Disagree - think with modern systems etc. translating club form into international football is no longer a pre-requisite to being a legend.

Sorry, but I have no respect for Stevie G in the slightest. He's one of the worst divers in the league, yet Drogba, Owen etc don't start preaching about how diving is bad.

Don't rate him especially highly as a footballer either. Have watched far too many games where he just completely goes missing.

Not sure about him. Seems to like being a big fish in a little pond, needs to move to a bigger club to really go down as a legend.

Kenny is still the best Liverpool player ever, by some distance for me

Agreed - he never seems to have a good game for England - away in Germany excepted.

He 'disappears' - as he often does when playing Man U for Liverpool.

He always keeps me amused with his annual 'this year will be our year, I really feel we can challenge for the title' speech. In fact, he's already come out with one and the season has barely finished. Brilliant!

What do you expect him to say though?

"Yeah Gary, I think next year we'll have a shaky start, then come good and give the fans some hope and be there or thereabouts come Christmas, but then we'll have a crap patch and fade away by Easter"

Why no try reading it again ?
He's called for the board to back the manager with £££ so that they have a squad capable of challenging and are not out of it by Christmas.
A bit different to saying 'this could be our year'.
