Guardian said:
Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to the latest public declaration of interest from Real Madrid with nine words that will go down like a lead balloon at Manchester United. "Let's see what happens after the Champions League final," said Ronaldo as he was questioned about the possibility of a world-record transfer to the Bernabéu.

Ronaldo emphasised that he was "happy" at Old Trafford but there was a less than unequivocal response when it was put to him that the Real president, Ramón Calderón, was "obsessed" with signing him. "I am happy here but let's see what happens," he told the Spanish television network Antena 3. "I am feeling calm here. I'm happy but in the future I don't know. I know Real Madrid like how I play and I know that other teams in Spain like my game as well, so that's good. It is good to know that other clubs are interested in you. I have said millions of times that I would love to play in Spain."

He qualified that last statement by pointing out that "it's one thing to dream and another for it to be reality". He also emphasised, more than once, that he was enjoying life in Manchester. Nonetheless, Madrid are entitled to be encouraged that, deliberately or not, he chose not to confirm that he would still be at Old Trafford next season - and, indeed, that he should consider playing for Real a "dream".

"Real have the solvency and the financial power to be able to take on a signing of the magnitude of Cristiano Ronaldo," the club's general director, Miguel Angel Arroyo, has told the Spanish press.
Fabulous player and destined to play for Real, the biggest club on the planet.

I dont want him to go, as I support the team, and think he is a great entertainer and really livens the prem up.

Hope he does leave, will show United for the over-rated, referee-biased team that they really are.

There, there, he signed a five year contract last April...

I know that doesn't mean much - but hey - easy come easy go... what about the rest of the Utd squad. 1 player doesn't maketh a team.

How have we managed recently without Cantona or Keane...

don't cry, poppet!! hehe

Oh give over. Overated?

He has been there for about 5 years, he was not that great when eh came, yes enterating. But not a team player as much. Alex has developed his play and helped turn him into the best player in the world.

Thats the difference, chelsea will go and buy shevchenko when he is one of the best players in the world, cant quite see them breeding him from the start though can you?

No they have done the opposite and ruin his form. By playing that tt Drogba instead of him for the last however many games.

About to win the double, won 10 prem titles, 1st/2nd richest club in the world. Harldy OVER rated.

Your talking absoloute ste.

Cant believe ronaldo is stupid or naive enough to raise this before the CL final. IF TRUE (we shall wait and see) then I suspect he will spend the CL final sitting on the bench or from a corporate box. we are quite capable of winning without him.

Take £100M + Casillas, and then buy Messi and Kaka.

Decent player but what an utter wr.

Seen him play a few times the last couple of years and it's the stuff he does off the ball that riles. Moaning tit.

Was made to look pretty poor by Messi as well.

Not really bothered now as we will be playing in the fizzy pop league next year.

I think he is a long way behind Messi in the best player in the world argument.
I have yet to see him prove his worth on the big stage.

He has scored 41 goals this season, what more proof do you want for fks sake..Although I dont agree with him being a midfield player in what Carrick is, I do think that to score that amount from the position he plays as opposed to the classic strikers/goalhangers like Rooneyy/Eto/Raul, is remarkable.

Messi may well have better skills, but he is not the all round package of Ronaldo, and if Messi cant sort his form out then I am sorry he cant be called the best.

Sorry Hornet old chap, technically Man U are the biggest both financially and on the world market/demand.

Besides, Real and Man U have nothing on Cardiff city

Technically maybe, in terms of revenue. But I think in footballing terms the biggest club to have on your CV is Real Madrid. Have you seen their trophy room, it's amazing.

But hey, it doesn't really matter smile

Why have they looked ordinary when he hasn't played then?

Portsmouth knocked them out of the FA Cup semi final FFS. At Fortress Trafford.

Chelski to win 1-0.

I'm not trying to detract from Ronaldo's feats this year, he hasn't had much competition from anyone for Player of the Year etc, and I'm 100% sure he will take the European and World Player of the year. After the season he had last year, I was looking forward to see his battle with Kaka and Messi primarily for World Player of the year. Kaka has been struggling for form and niggling injuries all season, and Messi missed 4 months of the season with 2 injuries. Even Etoo was injured for 4-5 months, Ronaldinho's slump continued, we missed a lot of the best footballers this season. But Ronaldo deserves his accolades this season and it'd be hard to see anyone topping him this season

I watch a lot of Spanish football, and I can tell you that Messi's form kept Barcelona afloat, and without him this season they were second rate. Against Man Utd in the Champions League, he was the only one to provide any threat, and those 2 games were his first full games for 2 months. So basically I think your judgement on Messi was a bit harsh, but there's more to his game than you might have seen this year. Let's hope future seasons provide a better contest for the European/World Football of the year
