I'm going to see England Vs. The Barbarians at Twickenham in a couple of weeks but was wondering whats the best way to get there. I live on the south coast and it takes roughly an hour and a half to drive to Heathrow from where I am on a good day, anyone got any thoughts??

Two choices IMO:
  • Drive and park nearby - they usually have parking off the A316 (start of the M3); or
  • Train into Clapham Junction and change for a service to Twickenham. Depending where you are on the South Coast you might be able to get a direct train to Twickenham.

Personally I would get the train, I always do for Twickenham.

Traffic can be very busy on the approach to Twickenham, and parking can be expensive too, have seen some for £20.

The station will be very busy, but the trains are very frequent.

And more importantly, if you fancy a few beers, its gotta be the train!

If you really want to drive, then park in Teddington and walk. Its a 15 min walk. I used to live in Teddington and its by far the best way to do it. Also you can get out easily and quickly going through Kingston to the A3. No traffic goes that way.

If i drive now, i park in the wine store just out of twickers on the rd to Teddington. Done it about 9 times and never had a problem once.

If on the train, head to Clappy J and change for Twickers
