Ok cricket fans.. suns out (well at least for now) and 1st test only a few days away. As the Aussie you lot love to hate I thought I might as well start one last cricket thread before I leave these sunny shores to return to life in Oz. Been a hoot living here last 3 years - had a ball, made some good mates and had some good laffs on PH; esp with the cricket banter. Hopefully the interwebby thing is available in oz nowwink so I'll still pop my head in to annoy the regulars when I'm not burnin shrimps, puttin new tyres on my ute, waxing my board or in hospital from snake or spider bite.

best of luck to the soap dodgers in the summer series vs the sheep shaggers.. always a tough call for me to know which of the lepers I'll support... luckily it's winter footy season back home so sport a plenty for me.

Anywho... enjoy the summer!

I reckon Freddie will miss the New Zealand tests, but hopefully play against S. Africa. I reckon it's better for him to be 100% than risk doing even more damage.

Sorry to see you leave mate, are you being deported? hehe

Anyway, should be an interesting series. NZ have got the batting line-up to make some runs but not such a good bowling attack. England's bowling is looking strong but the batting is a bit frail (Loss of form mainly).

I'd say another 2-1 to England. However I fear that the SA lot will rapidly wipe away the smiles that a series win will have put on a few faces.

An interesting first day, was hoping we'd skittle them once they'd got to 104 / 5 but it was not to be.

Let's hope the weather improves for the rest of the series.

nah.... no chance; already got a pommy passport to go with my Oz one!

Getting "re-called" is closer to the truth.. was always gonna be a 3-4 year stint.

Anyway; seems like it might be a long slow tour for the sheep shaggers

I was there today, went on impulse this morning as there was a small chance of a spectacular collapse from NZ. A couple of dropped catches and some good batting from Oram put paid to that but was good to be back at Lords for the first time in far too long. Shame that the sun didn't shine. Hopefully we'll lose a lot less overs to bad weather in the next test and have time to finish the job.

I was in New Zealand while the 1 day series was on in February. I had my england cricket shirt packed but never wore it due to the results and the threat of piss taking kiwis!
