I went there yesterday and it was great! Went with a friend of the Zimbabwe team so had to get involved in cheering for Kirsty Coventry, but as she was the best lady there it wasnt too bad!

I have to say (in a non gay way) that its one thing thinking you are in decent shape, but when our only a few metres away form the bloke swimmers it is very sobering! To say they look like they had all been carved from stone is an understatement! All the women look quite wide on the television with their square shoulders but they are really small but eat loads! Went for a meal after the finals and they really pack it away.

Saw three World Records but didnt get to hear the National Anthem which was a shame. It was really well run and well worth it if anyone has the chance again.

Been following it each night on tv. Have to say there were some very good swims. Its a shame some nations didnt sent their best teams, but with olympics this year trials are more important. Was good to see a few people who I have swam with in the past do well.

Used to go to school with Mark foster so always watch and shout at the screen.

Amazing dedication from Swimmers, probably above and beyond any other sport.

Relevance to anything?

I'm not sure what measure Rich1231 uses to decide that swimmers are more dedicated than other top-level sportspeople though.

Well, the ones my GF knows are training most mornings at 4am then do a days work as the majority don't get paid enough to leave work, then train again after. I guess a lot of sportspeople do this but the swimmers do seem exceptional

Yep, standard procedure for aspiring sportspeople - train before work, train after work, struggle to find time to eat or sleep enough. Swim sessions do take ages though, bit like marathon training.

Relevance is that Mark Foster is a gay man, been spotted a numerous British/World events with his on off boyfriend/personal trainer colin jackson.

I would agree with the dedication though, before i started working i used to swim around 22 hours a week 5:15 - 7:30 4 mornings a week. Then 2.5 hours 4 evenings a week then 2.5 hours saturday morning unless we were competing.

This was before and after school and then work aswell until i really couldnt fit it in anymore. If i had gone to uni i could continue to train around 20 hours a week but work has reduced it to around 6/8 and im barely scraping them in frown

What has Foster's sexuality got to do with anything though? Who cares he's gay (and yes, I've bumped into him and Colin at the Sports Training Village here in Bath)?
