Vardon Golf History?

A non golfing friend of mine has left an old club with me to see if I can find out anything about it.
Can the Pistonheads sports collective help?
On the back of the club it says:

Mashie Niblick
Rustless Iron
Warranted and Forged
P.H.Vardon Upminster G.C

There is also a stamped crest on the back.
It's wooden shafted with what appears to be a leather grip and has obviously been used.



Anyone seen one of these before or can point me in the right direction to find out more information?
