Ashely Cole what a knob
Discussion
Cant believe no one has put this up yet. The guy is a tt, I bet you can all guess his reaction to how he stood in front of his missus explaining that he didnt shag the hairdresser.
See tackle and hand waving and sulking expression to the ref
Darling I went in with my pants down but I didnt touch her

I saw it last night as well and thought he should have has a straight red card. He is a complete Tw$t as detailed here.

I thought Lampard was just as bad personally.

What exactly constitutes a foul in soccer?
Do you have to have intent to contact the other player?
Do you actually have to make contact?
What makes it a yellow or red card offence?
Does it matter if you play the ball first?
As someone who does not know the rules, I often see contact being made but no foul awarded. It all seems a mystery to the lay observer.

That's fair enough.And I'm a Chelsea fan
To be honest, I never had a problem with Cole and I'm a Man Utd fan. However, after watching in last nights game, I have to say that he's not good for the game.
Disrespectful to the ref and the rest of the players on the pitch after a blatantly dangerous tackle.
The bloke needs to sit down and analyse his life at the moment, on and off the pitch.
Tit.

tell you what, let's get rid of a player who can play anywhere across the back, keep the likes of Henry in his pocket for 90 minutes and buy some wannabe tt
Sounds like a plan sleepy...he's been going down hill for a while now IMHO

What exactly constitutes a foul in soccer? - primarily going for the player, ie not intention of intercepting the ball - be it to increase the chance of the other team scoring a goalDo you have to have intent to contact the other player?
Do you actually have to make contact?

Do you have to have intent to contact the other player? - generally yes, i guess (others may have there own opinions) it depends upon whether the player tackles/goes in to innocently take/intercept the ball. On some occasions though the angle it which the referee or sideline's men can be difficult to determine the intent (until after the incident has took place tbh)
Do you actually have to make contact? - to what??? - the next question you asked (below) refers to this in my opinion.
What makes it a yellow or red card offence? - Yellow = persistant challenges, plenty of chances by the referee in my opinion and the final straw, ie 5+ fouls etc...
Red, nasty persistant or just a one off dirty (potential goal renching opportunity) taken.
Does it matter if you play the ball first? - Of course it does but again it depends on the angle/whereabouts the ref and his officials are in order to make a fair assessment on the situation tbh.

It all seems complicated and open to interpretation.
I guess the best answer is that you know when you have been fouled.
