Well done Wales! Thoroughly well deserved by the most consistent side in the championship. Your team played excellent rugby, and my only regret is England gifting you the opening win with our inane second half display. Still, there's always next year. Congratulations from a diehard England fan. thumbup

nice one Wales- much deserved and it's great to see the 6 nations so wide open. I hope you keep it up as it would be nice to bring the the tri-nations boys down a peg or two. I was very pleased when you guys won the grand slam, playing with such passion deserves success.

Well done Italy too- now their games are invariably great fun to watch.

Italy desperatly need a tactical outside half not a good centre and until they do all the good work their forwards are doing is being wasted, Parisse playes with immense passion and as Captian he really leade from the back of the scrum.

Scotland - your in trouble
Ireland - your in dire trouble no youngsters coming through just using the same old players 8 years on & why oh why do you have a p&ss poor 35 y.o. first choice prop... there are a few jokers in that front row

England - at last people realise that J Wilko isnt a great player he has always relied on a good pack when that doesnt work he cannot cut it (never has been able to either) having said that he is a very good place kicker. Noon played extremely well tackling like that can encourage a team to lift their game. Sakey & Vinekouvo when its not working they dont know what to do they need the half backs to give them direction during the game.

Wales - M Williams Class best openside flanker in the Northern Hemishpere. Its also remarkable that Wales have such depth in the Half backs and true quality too not just to make up the numbers. Adam Jones 20 stone 15 pounds immense a proper bull of man - did you all see him jeeing up the forwards just before Wales won the scrum against the head? Henson - his tackling was invaluable so quick that they hardly crossed the gain line the yellow was very harsh.

I think the yellow was deserved. He appeared to realise as and when it was happening and there was no objection. Fortunately it appeared it wasn't a bad one.

The 5-yard scrum against France was my moment of the tournament. 19-12 up and some nerves showing, and to just destroy the French pack when opposing the scrum was just magic smile

Absolutely - that was the moment I knew the Grand Slam was won! I'm pretty sure Wales were 19-9 up at that point, but wouldn't swear to it...

Oh, and Henson's yellow was fully justified, it was also completely unnecessary, as Hook already had the tackle made.

It was a bit high yes but that should have been a penalty only. Anyway we nearly had a null impact score wise during those 10 mins however Hook missed the kick.

IRB rankings Wales now 6th up from the humiliating 10th spot after the World Cup. England have slipped to 5th and frankly after such a dire 4 games they should br worse - however dur to the ranking system doubling any wins ranking points increase in the World Cup and they made it to the Final I guess it makes sense.
One thing that still makes me LOL was England in the RWC against the Eagles (USA) ranked 15/16th and they won 24-19 and that was with a hell of a lot of luck - if they had lost then then they may well have not made it past the group stage!

You beat a directionless Ireland, just. We have the likes of Kearney, Fitzgerald and Trimble, not to mention Flannery being sighted before the tournament and Buckley coming through. O'Connell was not match fit and O'Driscoll should not be captain.

J Wilko not a great player? Apart from M Williams I can't think of one player on the Welsh side who plays with as much passion as Wilko does; he puts his body on the line and his kicking skills alone win England plenty of matches. Cipriani proved his worth. Their team as a whole played superbly against a soulless Ireland, well done chaps.

I admire Wales for their handling skills and their attacking/defense was superb for most of the tournament, but what I dislike is M Williams getting away with offside/illegal play, countless illegal tackles and the crowd booing every time the opposition have a penalty kick. Overall I'm glad they won it; they seemed to be the only team who played with real heart in every match.

Wales played with 14 men for 20 minutes.

Your having a laugh - Welsh rugby = passion.

Firstly - with regard to the booing thats now unfortunatly part and parcel of any stadium, however this is challenging to the kicker which is good if they are a professional they should let their boot do the talking.

One thing I thought was appauling in the Eng v Ireland game was when they were 18 or so points ahead with barely 8 mins left to play and a penalty awarded to England within their 10 meter line what do England do? Spot kick at goal.... the game was won you only play like that to close the game out, with the margin England had you always kick to touch and play for the 7 points. A terrible decision.

Ok then lets look at this another way the great England team between 1999 & 2003 they won a mere 1 Grand Slam and two of those years had one less game than now. This was a time when Wales were pretty poor & when Italy first joined they were terrible the only two teams in it were England & France.

Wilko is not a great player he is a good spot kicker thats it if the outside half always goes into the big tackles then your wide open whoever he has left in stand off position they key tactical position on the pitch is in a terrible situation. Wilko has (in a way just like Dan Carter) relied on a great pack with good fast quality ball and to be frank when you have a situation like that it certainly flatters the outside half.

Rugby has always been designed as an open running game with the goal to score as many tries as possible with maybe the odd drop goal. Alway opting for the 3 points just kills the game its boring to watch and hopefully as has been discussed the spot kick may reduce to 2 points ditto the drop goal to encourage teams to play for the tries instead.
Do you not know why England are called the 1 dimensional team??

Come on folks lets chill with the England bashing eh smile

Any of the Irish supporters on here based in Ireland? I saw the Wales France game in Cyprus and as the satellite reception on the beeb was dodgy we had the RTE coverage - what a bunch of bitter individuals they were!

I had to LMAO as the old guy (sorry, don't know who he was) basically sgged Wales for being unimaginitive and a boring side to watch (hello??? most points in the fecking tournment??)

He also sgged us at half time and said it was the most boring game he'd ever seen (ehhhhh???? 3 points in it in a GS decider??)

And at the end he was totally gutted and basically said that Wales were a terrible team and deserved none of their success.

Needless to say we were cheering him on at every turn beer

No England bashing but the remark that Wilko is a class player s rubbish and always has been, if he had been playing the poor Wales scrum over the last 8 odd years I can assure you his deficiencies would have been highlighted much sooner.

Does anyone have a link to the league table of total grand slams, total triple crowns and total championship victories from inception to date?
