Harmison - should he tour?
Discussion
Now everyone at some stage of their lives has dreamed of playing for their country at some sport or other, so I am always mystified by Harmison's attitude when he (eventually) goes on tour with England.
Case in point this morning - he looked like someone had shat in his tea and made him drink it, sat by himself watching the game.
Most blokes I know cant wait to get away from the wife and kids for a few hours/days etc.
Dont know why he bothers (oh, forgot about the money!) as surely there is someone waiting for their big chance to play for England.
So, should he tour or just play for his club??

I didn't see this thread and just made a point on the NZ v England thread. Harmison looks unfit and unmotivated and has done for quite a while. At the moment he's lumbering in and bowling at medium pace and is a waste of a place. I would much rather see Broad in the side. He would give it 100% every ball and would also improve the fielding and bowling.
I was a big fan of Harmy but I think he's a prime example of a player who has been mollycoddled by central contracts and as a result has lost his edge. He should be told after this tour that he is not getting a contract for this year and he won't be in the test team unless he can demonstrate that he is capable of giving the kind of performances he gave in 2005.

I think he suffers more than most with homesickness. Not a problem you want when you are an international cricketer liable for touring NZ, Australia, India et al.
Strange thing is that his father used to play football for us ( Yeovil Town ) and headed off home to Ashington after just one season citing...homesickness.
