Not a good day at the office for Eduardo!! seen it on you tube as soon as it happened pretty much. apparently they are not going to show it on tv due to it's graphic nature.

I think looking at the higher res version;

http://www.jutarnji.hr/Modules/Galleries/GalleryIm...

shows it to be less of a smirk, more of a grimace.

Yeah, don't think anyone would smirk after doing that to someone during a game, looks like a really bad break though. Didn't one of the Scottish players break a leg during the rugby today as well today?

I'm not a football person but the game was on in a pub in Cardiff before we went to watch the rugby, it was a horrific tackle and i thought the rest of the Arsenal team was going to burst into tears as they saw there team mate lying there. Very bad... frown

I hope he recovers. That was bone sticking out of the end of his sock. I don't personally think that there was anything malicious by Taylor at all.

No, I don't think it was malicious, he was just too slow.

The fact that Wenger has retracted his original statement regarding Taylor not playing ever again is also significant.
Taylor was just too slow.

Best wishes to Eduardo, and I hope he makes a full recovery.

I used to play and this happened to one of the opposition players when one of my team mates clashed with him shin to shin. My mate got up the other guy was left screaming in agony with bone sticking out through his sock both front and back as it broke both bones......really sickening especially as it happened during an ambulance strike and before the days of mobile phones! Took 40 minutes for the ambulance to arrive to take him off to hospital.

The good news for Eduardo if there is any is a clean break even if it does pierce the skin is easier to fix than say knee ligament or ankle damage.

Doubt he will be playing for at least a year though.

What a truly, truly, horrific injury frown

If it's his ankle that's broken that badly then I really fear it could be game over for him... In the pics it looks like his foot is broken nearly clean off, made my blood run cold frown

He is a real quality player too, such a shame...

No, he shouldn't. Having seen the replays, I don't think there was any intent from Taylor, as has been said above he was just too slow. An accident.

Now that was a strange one. He's sitting there chatting to the physio while they're gathered around his legs, he's carried off and the announce he has a suspected broken leg. Not an ounce of emotion on his face, just like they were retying his boots for him.

and no, I'm not drawing comparisons between the rugby and the Andrex Premiership players reactions to injuries

Grim injury but seeing it in realtime on the telly we couldn't tell how bad it was - I don't think it was on purpose, just badly timed. You could argue that he went in studs up I suppose. Red card was the appropriate punishment.
