I notice all the so-called "mates" who hung around with him when he was famous are nowhere to be seen now

It is a shame. The poor bloke looks absolutely battered from his alcoholism. If only he had some friends around him who could look after him.

I'm inclined to feel sorry for the bloke.

He's had his low points and has done some stupid things but I think it's sad to see the demise of somebody that could have (should have) been a hero.

Not funny at all. The bl**dy press, even in the north east were continually going into the details of the incident in the hotel which wasn't at all necessary.

I agree, nto sure why anyone would find this funny. Guy is in trouble and needs help and yet some think laughing at him and the situation is the right thing to do.

Disgusting

This is not misfortune, this is a really sad story of someone who is obviously very ill.

If you see my take the piss out of someone who is ill in the future, you can quite rightly have a go. But i can assure you that won't happen.

Im not the sort of person to poke fun at ill people

Met the bloke when he played a Rangers renuion game out in Dubai a few years ago - lovely fella. He didn't have a great game and was so disappointed with himself - shouldn't have been - but it shows how much he wanted to play the game and do the best for his team and the fans.

Legend.

I think that's his problem. He wants to play, but can't as age and some of his, over publicised IMHO, issues have prevented it. I guess there's nothing in his life to replace the buzz of football and genuinely feel for him. I hope he gets all the care he needs.
