In all the fuss about Chambers...it's past by the attention of the media that Chris Tomlinson broke his own British Long jump record last week.

Good on him. Shame it's been over shadowed really.

It's easy to dismiss the length of 8.18 metres as 'not that far'.

If you took the time to measure it out, you'd find that it is an astonishing distance for a man to jump.

Well done that man. clap

It looks like he's finally managing to have an injury free winter and coming into form. Hopefully he can carry this through to the summer and jump a long way in Beijing thumbup

Yes, he's gone back to his original rough and ready style of jumping, as he says "it's not pretty", but it's what he knows.

He is very quick over the runway, and when it comes together the guy can really jump (8.18m is just shy of 27 feet!). Hopefully he'll stay fit and well, no more freak injuries!

Local pub to me has a yellow line painted outside it. I found out that it was painted in tribute to Lynne Davies gold medal at the Tokyo olympics in 64. 8.03 metres.

"With the wind blowing in their faces and the temperature constantly below 15 degrees, the competitors were further hindered with puddles of water lying at several points on the cinder run-up which were not conducive to world class long jumping"

We used to use the line to see if we were too drunk to drive!!!

Typical track bias.
Happens all the time sadly.

More just the media loving negative stories - a drug cheat is far more news worthy than a British record in the eyes of our misguided press.
