So, it looks like our over paid pansies can't play football properly even under Capello rolleyes

Having said that, it went to 1:0 as I was writing this!

Ditto...same old, same old.

Having said that, dunno what the answer is. Wish they'd ave a rugby world cup every month or so...much more entertaining.

English league is ONLY fab due to 99% being foreign players. Put all the home growns together..and shite happens. We are technically so far behind it's sad!!!

We have to accept that we simply aren't as good as we think we are. As a nation we must learn to lower our expectations - give a decent manager like Cappello TIME to work with them and ship out the deadwood- there's plenty of it. Wave goodbye to the 'golden generation' (lol) and get some of the U21's in there. We DO NOT have a divine right to win any competition and we must accept it. The world game is a different entity to our domestic version. Foreign players can adapt and 'dumb down' to succed in the Premiership, but we cannot raise our level to win world cups, etc. How many of our home grown 'world class' players have ever snapped up by the big European teams? Not bloody many! There's your answer.
I remember a discussion on 5 live regarding the reduction in Scottish players coming to England being some kind of barometer showing the demise of Scotland's national capability. We are just the same, it's just cloaked due to the foreign influx making the Premiership look good. Even Cappello bemoaned the lack of choice due to the number of non - English players in Premiership. Oh, well. Onward and upward , eh?

ETA - I hold my opinion no matter what the outcome of tonight's game.

Ps - 1-1 as I finish typing. Need we say more?

I thought they played pretty well considering they were playing a new system. i.e. try and pass it a bit before hoofing it upfield.

We still look v dodgy at the back but there was more fluency going forward. I thought Bentley looked very assured, he's definitely got the potential to take over the No. 7 shirt. Rooney was fantastic. Joe Cole was v good in patches. I thought Gerrard was pretty poor by his stds, can't understand why they gave him man of the match. Calamity nearly blew it in injury time, coming out and flapping like a mad woman and missing but they cleared it. All in all more positive than recent performances IMO.

SHOCK, HORROR

English football fans slag off new team and manager !

For s sake - Capello has been in charge for a half and the boo boys are already out? confused WTF ?

I can't believe the mentality of our fans sometimes. Even the crowd were booing because England were knocking the ball about and keeping possession. ? Work that out.. scratchchin

Well, get used to it - that's Capellos style. You lot put him there by begging for Sven to be axed.

Just have a bit more patience than 45 minutes eh ? FFS

New team, new manager, new system. Don't slag it off until we start losing, at least.

Uningbelievable. nono

Do you boo boys know anything about football ?

Anyone else feel the pitch was dreadful - the grass seemed too long. They need the billiard table than is the Emirates ...

Ball was bobbling around all over the place, showing how bad people's first touch was to be honest.

A winning start but France away in the next game is a better test obviously.

Beckham - Eng career over at 99 caps I fear.

I thought it was quite an assured performance under the circumstances...

England created plenty of chances and left the swiss with only 2 or 3 half chances. Yes it was tedious for the most part but be realistic, 3 days training under a new coach and a new system...

I wonder what people would be saying if jenas jad got that second and rooney had finished his good chance...
