It's the right choice but I'd have given him a place cause I'm soft.

Would have put him in the squad, then all things going well thrown him on 80 minutes in. Satisfies the press then, no more media frenzy over 100 caps.

Still no Robert Green! What more does he have to do?! Unbelievable. I'm fully behind Capello, but I can't see the logic behind this decision.

I hope Beckham does reach 100. I'm still a fan.

Glad Matt Upson's in there! He was great last night.

personally I'd like to see him win his 100th cap as he's been a great ambassador for sport BUT if he's not fit enough to play then he doesn't get included

capello is stirring things up and creating competition which has been a long time coming

beckham will be back in the squad at some point

The Beckham of 6+ years ago is not the Beckham of today, get over it and stop living in the past!

Agree. Think that it's a joke no Green, especially as the Wigan keeper has been called up FFS. Hopefully Capello will see error of his ways on Saturday. Worries me that no matter how well Green plays he's not getting picked, don't want him to force a move if he feels thats only way to get into squad! Pleased for Upson, well deserved, he's been quality this year.

Capello and Beckham have history.

It's more of a statement on Capellos part IMO.

Beckham still has things to offer as he's one of the most experienced English players on the pitch at this level.

He's trained hard at Arsenal to stay in trim and I think the effort he's shown should warrant inclusion when coupled with the experience and skill he has.

However, I have no doubt that he will win his 100th cap before this year ends.

I honestly can't see what more Green can do to get in the squad. Are we honestly saying that he's not one of the top 3 English keepers in the game? To me,he's have been far and away the best for the last couple of seasons, with James 2nd and Kirkland 3rd when he's fit. Really is beyond belief, he must be absolutely gutted.
As for Beckham I'd have put him on for 2 mins at the end to wave to the crowd goodbye. It would have given Beckham his cap, done no harm in the game, and got the crowd in Capello's pocket. Then I'd say thanks but no thanks.

I'm sure he'd have loved that, most of his caps have been based on merit but the 100th was a token gesture

I have nothing against Beckham he has been a very important player for a number of years, however I'm convinced his desire to win his 100th cap is based on the subsequent market opportunities.

That is crazy talk! The guy is absolutely minted, I doubt the money he would get from market opportunites would make any difference to his lifestyle whatsoever. He wants to get his 100th cap because it's a milestone, it's a huge personal achievement and it's also one which will go down in the history of the English game.

Not to mention the next tournament is 2+ years away when he'll be 35.

100 caps now looks almost impossible.

blah blah blah. Surely he gets paid enough money to buy as many hats as he wants.

Why not play him?

It's only a friendly and surely he does deserve his 100 caps?

I have never rated him that mutch.

He should not have made it past 80/85 caps at the most, then we would not be having this argument.

I think he deserves his 100th cap and maybe a few more, he's one of the few English players who seems to really care about playing for his country. Even though he's getting on a bit and not as sharp as he once was, i still cant think of another English player who plays in his postion that has his status and ability to change a game.

Oh of course, he scored that free kick so he must be in the squad. Ignore the fact he's had loads of injuries, not played a decent game for his yank team yet and spends his time at Snoop Dog concerts and fashion shows.

You right, ignore all the players who currently playing in the prem league and get Beckham in who's not played a decent game for how long.

Damm my memory, keep forgetting this free kick
