Agree, but also get shut of Kewell, Pennant, Kuyt, Aurelio, Rise and Finnan. All very average players who would never get a game at Man U or Arsenal. £17m for Masher is a bit over the top as well. Rafa got to pull his finger out, at the moment he is very cleverly letting Yanks take all the flak, but once again his team selections have meant our season is over, re League, in January again.

What a shite first half. Damn being a liverpool supporter is depressing - no wonder the atmosphere has gone out of the stadium its just really rubbish play.

We've had Souness, Evans, Houllier and now Benitez (at least he's got a bit of euro success!).

So whilst gut instinct for some fans is to call for managerial change (given the guy has just spent another £24m on machserano and skrtel) I would ask for calm and just accept that he needs to be at the club for probably another 5 years so he can mould it in his eyes - youth acadamey, scouting network etc.

Think thats the way it is - we don't want to be another toon - hopefully one day Benitez will start to understand the concept of expansive football as a required means of winning the league (unless you are chelsea).

IIRC it took Fergie 5 years to win the FA cup, and all managers who have been at a club for a prolonged period generally build established clubs - curbs, big sam, fergie, wenger, etc. so patience is required.

Agree with comments re momo, never the same after the eye injury and then dislocated shoulder. Hope he has a good future though as always gave 100%.

Not sure about getting rid of pennant or riise but the others yes.
Who gives a damn wether man u or arsenal would play them, its irrelevant to us and we shouldnt honestly compare us to them at the moment as they are leagues ahead and we are fighting with the mediocre teams just to clinch 4th.

Big four? sadly not, i think its the big 3 for a while.

Getting to 5th in the table cost money, to get to forth costs a hell of a lot more. Liverpool will always be in the top 4 apart from odd blip seasons.

Getting into the top three is going to cost a fortune.

I think the comparison to man u is fair as that is the benchmark we must work towards, really if you look at both teams then only reina, carragher, gerrard, macsherano, torres would genuinely feature (with carragher that would be tough given rio and vidic) - so we are 6 players short.

That said I still think if we had two phenomenal wingers it would make all the difference in stretching teams...just not many giggs / ronaldo / messi type players out there.

Whilst I am glad that momo has gone he did have some good matches at the club.
Welcoming Ballack to England is a top highlight for me.

Also he wrote a nice letter to the fans and I am sure Liverpool fans would wish him the best.

As for the season... not our best and finishing outside of the top four again could spell the end possibly for Rafa.

That game was possibly the best game by Momo (also against Barca and FA Cup final too). I think he is great player but never fulfill his potential.
