OK.. he's been slightly below his own impeccable standard in the last few tests but I still rate him as one of the greatest modern cricketers - sad to see him pull the pin - awesome career and even when he has missed a few chances in recent months he'd still cream most keeper/batsmen in the current squads around the globe.
Has played a record 96 consecutive tests and just took the record for most dismissals (although that title will go back to the Sth Effrikan soon enuf)

Well done Gilly.. you have entertained thousands and arguably changed the style of the game in your time; great sportsman, great keeper, great team man, electrifying with the bat and all-round great Aussie clap
(even urep might find a nice word to say about him!)

As annoyingly arrogant the jug eared gnome is......he's been an ambassador for Aussie cricket for years. I'll always remember sitting at the WACA watching him hit the 2nd fastest test century ever during the Ashes. I'll also remember seeing him bladdered in Antigua during the world cup trying to pay his bar bill on unsteady legs.

Thought he'd hold out for another year and come over for the Ashes. Anybody else likely to bail before the convicts come back here?

Gilchrist is one of the few Aussie cricketers i like as a player and a person. Having met quite a few of the one day team in Barbados during the world cup in a restaurant, i can safely say that most of them live up to their arrogant stereotypes, but Gilly was a really decent guy.

Gilchrist, Hussey, Lee, Symonds seem to be the gents of the Aussie cricket team.

Well the Lankans have done well to get the Aussies out for 239. I hope they can bat properly today, and give the lying cheating scum a proper thrashing. With any luck all the Aussie players will feck off to the Indian pro leagues and the convicts can go back to "footie".

Tidy spell from Malinga when his team looked like conceding 275+.. clap

Every chance to pull this one away from us if the boys with the willow can withstand Lee & co.
