Not my club but Derek Riordan at Celtic - even Strachan has admitted he's the best natural finisher at the club but he doesn't rate him highly enough to give him a game!

Marco Gabbiadini (sp) oh no i got it the wrong way round as the club played him but the fans never seemed to like him (too many mars bars or burgers perhaps)

As a Liverpool fan I'm gutted we have let some good goalkeepers go - Friedel, Dudek, Kirkland, Carson all spring to mind. James is another one, but he had to go I suppose as he did make some poor errors, but look at him for Pompey now. One of the best in the Prem in my opinion. Anfield seems to be the death of keepers for some reason.

Outfield, 2 players spring immediately to mind, Litmanen and Crouch.

Litmanen was such a cultured player of very high skill - but not an out an out goalscorer. I'd compare him to Berbatov or Bergkamp with about 6 less goals a season. Alas, we never played him enough and let him go.

Crouch I rate very highly, having seen him play. Superb ball skills, good with the head, scored some spectacular goals - and when he plays, he scores. All he needs is a run in the team.

Thomas Brolin. But to be fair I think that we were wrong. With hindsight he was pretty pants.

Friedel was moved on to be replaced by better talent - he's proven to get better with age. Dudek was being a diva and isn't as good as Reina. Kirkland was too injury prone. Carson hasn't left, he's out on loan. Calamity James, as he was back then, was a disaster. A game losing machine. He's always been a shot stopper but appears to be reducing errors of late.

Houlier was too stubborn to play him. We signed him too late in his career to get the best from him but he still scored some important goals and showed his quality.

Agree with Crouch - when the pressure has been on, Gerrard and he have always linked very well. Torres does so too and I'd prefer to see he and Crouch as the front too. Kuyt has an awful touch - only Sissiko has worse.

One that didn't exactly get away, but who we never made use of was Collymore.
Bad attitude but a very good striker imo.

Going back many years, Jimmy Case developed into a better player after he left Anfield.

I thought Baros was a class act that needed polishing. His international goals record is very impressive and his instinctive finishing when he first joined Liverpool was great. He lacked touch and vision though and spends far too much time playing with his head down running like a headless chicken IMO.

I could never understand why Reading let go Carl Asaba when they were in the Championship.

Manchester City should never have let Francis Lee go to Derby County in 1974, where he helped them win the league championship the following season..
