On 2nd of Feb is UFC 81, with new Heavyweight signing Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir.

Should be a very interesting fight to watch, a completely untested but super athletic and seriously massive (6"3 and around 20 stone) fighter in Lesnar, and a very average but experienced fighter in Mir.

Official build up/info here: http://www.81.ufc.com/

Lesnar also mentions Tim Sylvia being beaten by Randy Couture, and recons someone Randy's size should never have been able to beat a big Heavyweight, he is pretty much bating Sylvia, so I imagine if Lesnar wins and Sylvia loses, they'll fight next.

Mir - isn't he trying to come back from a bad accident still? Or is he totally washed up?

Having followed Brock through WWE (etc), it would be interesting to see how he fairs. Not to sure on him being a striker (no matter how big he is), but up close, he could be very interesting, but might be open to more 'unusual' submissions...

super athletic and seriously massive, sounds like the description of Rameau Sokoudjou.

I'm not falling for that again!

I wouldn't underestimate Mir, the accident is well and truly in the past and remember he was Heavyweight champion once upon a time. Lesnar will be interesting though.

Why I am conjuring up Lesnar climbing onto the top of the octagon and jumping only for Mir to move at the last minute and then someone putting a ladder in the middle with a suitcase full of money at the top!

One ah, two ah, three ah!

So glad BJ Penn won at the weekend and hope he will now face the Muscle Shark.

BJ Penn was a great fight. Hopefully Sherk will walk through BJ.

I have been very unimpressed with Mir since his return. Lesnar I think will be awesome. Great amature wrestling ability and Supremely athletic for his size. How he copes with somebody his own size will be interesting.

I think Lesnar will take that one.

Is Silva & Henderson the same night? I hope Hendo takes that and puts Anderson Silva down.

lol I fell for that one too.

Personally I dont think Lesnar stands a chance, this is proper stuff, not no Mickey Mouse WWE (sorry WWE fans)getmecoat

Any got any idea of when UFC is coming to England again? The drive from London to Newcastle was well worth it for UFC 80 smile

That fight is happening at UFC 82 on March 1st. I'm a big Anderson Silva fan but I think it could go either way.

I wouldnt write Lesnar off just because he worked in WWE, he's a serious athlete who has been training hard at MMA for 2 years. From his interviews he is willing to do the graft and wants to succeed.

Mir on the other hand is a very average fighter who became champ at a time when there were very few good heavyweights, and as for breaking Sylvias arm, Sylvia is a big slow fighter who handed him the arm, and instead of dropping onto Mir and trying to get his arm into a better position just kept pulling it up till it broke.

Lesnar is a lot quicker and stronger, I forsee him impressing a lot fo people and winning the fight brutall.

Watch the Min Soo fight again. I know MS is a rubbish fighter, the punches Lesnar was thrwoing on the ground were mega hard, you cant even tell if Lesnar is left or right handed, as both fists carry massive power.

Not sure when UFC comes to UK again, seem to be trying to build the sport here so wont be long im sure.

The UFC is heading to London for a show on June 14, and Brock Lesnar — a former collegiate wrestling champion and WWE performer — will headline the event if UFC executives get their way.

I think it is safe to now!

Griffin was very impressive.

I was suprised Jeremy Horn lost.

The headlock on Bob Yundt was awesome.

Very impressed with Both Mir & lesnar. great to see the old Mir back. Lesnar looked fearsome, just needs some Ju-jitsu training now.

Lesnar is 30. If he hasn't got the skills now he probably never will have. The fact his initial punches had little effect was quite surprising.

Although he is 30 he has only been training for MMA for 2 years. Before that it was amateur/professional wrestling. I don't think his initial punches had little effect, Mir looked like he had gone 5 rounds with some HW fighters. Lesner is still learning.

I was pleasantly surprised by Lesnars performance (not really sure why). He would've beaten most fighters with strikes he landed, but Mir was technically much much better (to be expected I know).

As mentioned before, with more training he'll be a good MMA fighter.

Rest of the card was brilliant aswell Nogeura (sp) is a beast! yikes

Nogueira looked in trouble in the first round but he stood up to it really well and when it went to the floor you knew it was game over for Sylvia.

I think Lesnars loss will do him a lot of good, he has moved away from the whole "WWE" thing and become a genuine MMA fighter now, and I beleive that he will be a lot more relaxed and confident for his next fight.

I think the nerves got to him in a major way and he just bull rushed Mir and tried for a scrambled early victory because his nerves were such that he wasnt fully thinking things through.

If he relaxes in the next fight, and takes away some good experience from this fight he'll look a lot better in his next fight.

Finally a heavyweight with some explosiveness!! since Syliva killed the "real" Arlovski and CroCop being too scared to push the pace in fights after Gonzaga almost removed his head, the HW division has been pretty boring, Lesnar will certainly shake it up a bit.

next fight for Lesnar? Id say give him Heath Hering, or even Cro Cop, see whetehr he can take a punch. Cro Cop doesnt have the ground game of Mir so I see lesnar taking the fight to the ground and finishing it there.
