Footballing names of yesteryear; where are they now and what are they doing?

I met Dave Beasant last year (he's on the coaching staff at Craven Cottage). George Graham... what's he up to and how come he's not being linked with managerial jobs?

The retired heroes (and zeroes) can't all be in footie... like, what happened to Jason 'Pineapple Head' Lee?

George Graham pops up on TV now & then and is usually linked with every manager's job that comes up. smile

Jason Lee is at Notts County IIRC.

Yep, he's still playing.

The man did well at Watford in the late 90s - I'd buy him a pint!

He had a profound effect on GNW - really nurtured him along (until that b@st@rd Butler nobbled him)

Kevin Carr who used to play in goal for Newcastle in the 80's is now a policeman and was spotted controlling the crowd at a home game a few years ago.

Neil Webb is a postman.

Ex Reading goalie Steve Death is err... dead.

So is Jeff Astle who was a window cleaner.

Whatever happened to Kevin Keegan?

Eh? you're kidding me.............

Seems he works for Charlton at the moment. Both sons play as well One at Hereford and the other at Reading. Fair play to the guy he went out and earned his money when the Football career went west.

I seem to remember that Webb went through a messy / expensive divorce? Can't remember details but I remember thinking it was a sad story at the time. Always seemed like a nice and genuine guy. Even that recently the players were not on anything like the levels of pay they are now.

I think Stan Bowles was skint even before he'd stopped playing (he liked the gee gees) and was living back in his mums terraced house in Brentford last I heard.

Neil webb came out to Hong Kong around 1996 to try get a contract with a local team.
He spent a lot of time in the discovery bay residents club bar on the beer. Decent bloke
had several beers with him in there, things didn't work out for him so off he went.
He'll probably earn more as a postman than a Hong Kong footballer.

I remember spotting him on his bike near Pangbourne. He looked a bit miffed that I recognised him.

Stan Bowles - lays on more balls than Joan Collins as they used to say ..

Anyway, Stan used to nip out to the bookies down the road (so rumour has it) about 2.50 when all the crowd at Loftus Road were in the ground - and the streets were empty - in his kit.

Legend!

Stan Bowles

The former QPR striker who literally shot himself in the foot, holds the dubious honour of getting the lowest Superstars score ever.

He now writes a column for FourFourTwo Magazine, does occasional hospitality work at QPR and owns The London Tile shop in Brentford.

He is also rewriting his autobiography.

Bowles was often regarded as something of a character both on and off the pitch. One notable incident in his playing days involved the famous FA Cup trophy. Having won the FA Cup competition four days prior, Sunderland were parading the trophy at Roker Park on May 9, 1973 when they met QPR in the old Division 2. The trophy had been placed on a table at the side of the pitch when Bowles tore straight across the park and kicked the ball at it full speed, sending the Cup flying through the air.[1] The crowd predictably went ballistic, however Stan had the last laugh by scoring a brace in the match which ended in a pitch invasion. According to Bowles some of the QPR players had laid bets as to who could hit the trophy first.
