I'm sure most of the fans will welcome KK coming back to St James, they were certainly heady days during his reign and no one has quite matched his iconic status. I worked at St James' back then and the atmosphere was great, wasn't quite the same after he left.

He might not have won any silverware but he got the club up into the premiership and very nearly got to the top. I'm not sure if he should have gone back (although I hope that the entertaining matches will follow), I just think the club will treat him they way they've treated the last lot of managers and if he doesn't show results by the end of the season he'll be out, and wor Kev is too nice for that.

Obviously not an NUFC fan then, because if you were, you would know that we now have a new owner and new board, so why do you think that will happen? People gone on about not giving SA a chance, but he was the appointment of the previous owner (freddie shepherd), but everyone seems keen to tar Mike Ashley with the same brush when he has only owned the club for a little short of as long as allardyce had his job...

TBH, I kind of stopped following the Toon when I moved south (a few years ago), so no, I didn't realise that Shepherd was out, or if I did know I had forgotten. You kinda lose touch when you don't get North-East Tonight on the telly.

Well he's made a great start of continuing the tradition of sacking managers, 8 months 2 managers!

Fat Sam was never their appointment though, and Mike Ashley has gone on record as saying "no disrespect to sam, but i should have followed my gut instinct when i took over. Normally I always get my own staff in, its just the way I do things".

Mike Ashley has always said he wanted a team that is thrilling to watch and is prepared to back the right person to do that with cash. Believe me, I very much doubt KK will get sacked at the end of the season.

In Mike Ashley, he has bought the club, paid off £100million debt, and took the club off the stock market.

You should have felt the buzz around the toon yesterday, it hasnt felt like that for ages, and all of a sudden, without fat sam's negative style of play, we beat stoke 4-1 with TEN men.

KK may not win us anything, but it'll sure be fun trying.

This is the thing with barcodes. It's all this garbage about 'entertaining football and not winning anything'. I would rather my team won everygame 1-0 than lose 4-3 etc, etc.
To be honest Keegan was my second choice, after Maclaren hehe

Thats the thing though, we dont really give a shit what anyone else thinks. We're happy because its brought back the buzz to the toon. You're happy because it looks like a joke appointment. All shits and giggles aint it.

As a southern non football supporter, can I ask, what does 'toon' mean?

I see the word used a lot but I cannot work out if it is noun, adjective or verb?

What is it short for ( if anything?)

thanks

I think they'll just escape the drop by the skin of their teeth, but in the Summer Mike Ashley had better get the cheque book out big time....

i don't really blame KK, he's inherited a pile of st, even Sir Alex took three years to turn United round......

Give him chance ffs!
