Good decision IMO.

Waits for the "dropped - just like his wicketkeeping then" jokes from the usual suspects

Yep, does make me smile that Sussex dropped Ambrose due to his lack of results. But they kept hold of Prior.

Yeah i wasn't sure about Strauss coming back into the side, though I spose Bopara didn't do anything special really. Will we actually play with 2 spinners? I spose it's good to have the option, but New Zealand pitches arn't that suited to spinners are they?

Seems like finding a reliable wicket-keeper is on a par with a decent England goalie?

I think its more a fixation the selectors have with finding a batsman who can keep wicket rather than a keeper who gets runs.

In an ideal world - we'd have a Gilchrist - Australia are very lucky in that respect.

It would be nice to think we could have a keeper with an average of say, 20 who held EVERY catch ... I'd take that every time over a guy with an average of 40 who dropped one in four.

The first ability you must have as a 'keeper is the ability to catch literally everything - Prior hasn't got it I'm afraid. Let's find a keeper (in Tests) who can keep wicket better than anybody else in the country and who can bat 'reasonably' ...
